Objectives
At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Review current status of antibiotic stewardship practices
- Discuss nurse engagement in antibiotic stewardship programs
- Analyze the current healthcare dilemma of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI)
- Discuss the “pros and cons”of utilizing probiotics for the preven - tion and treatment of CDI
- Promote evidence-based CDI prevention strategies
- Discuss headwear worn during surgery and its impact on surgical site infection (SSI) rates
- Review prevention strategies for SSIs
- Define the similarities and differences in the presentation of the various types of central nervous system infections
- Discuss the risk factors, transmission and treatment for bacterial, viral and fungal meningitis
