National Aging Service Risk Management Conference
2019 NASRM Conference the Largest to Date
The 2019 National Aging Services Risk Management (NASRM) Conference was held October 2-4, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois. Almost 250 gathered to learn the latest in reducing risk and elevating safer care for aging services and senior care providers. Attendees included corporate and campus risk managers, administrators, medical directors, PCPs, directors of nursing, quality representatives and QAPI committee members, information services, and information technology representatives.

This year's NASRM theme was Risk Management by Design: Culture of Accountability: exploring the mission-critical role that accountability and action plays in helping to prevent harm, reduce risk, improve quality, and increase safety when caring for older adults.

Presentations spotlighted contemporary risk management, quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI), and culture of safety topics influencing today’s senior housing and aging services providers. This year the Thursday sessions featured a deep dive on Purposeful Rounding — the Next Steps: assisting aging services provider organizations to design and implement effective practices that can help to address many aging services related risks that relate to falls, change in condition, and resident or patient satisfaction.

Pre-Conference topics included Risk and Claims Management 101, Employment Practices Risk Management, and Post-Incident Initial Investigations.

Key Conference Topics:
  • Opening Keynote: Accountability — A Culture of Safety Cornerstone
  • Very Informed Refusal
  • Designing and Implementing Purposeful Rounding: A RM Practice Intensive
  • Behavioral Health
  • Your Medical Director — A Mission-Critical Risk Management Partner
  • Closing Keynote: Managing with Charisma, Clarity, and Compassion
