Miss Widner's News
Dear Parents, Students, Grandparents, and Staff,
Greetings! We had a wonderful presentation and assembly for our middle school students today called Get Schooled Tour! This is the 2nd year for the program where we can also invite other area Catholic schools to come and listen to a powerful, positive message.
Congratulations to our 5th grade girls' basketball team for winning the CYO championships!! These girls and coaches had a wonderful season and finished off by being champions! We have included a photo of them in the electronic Wednesday envelope!
Continue to pray for our 8th graders as they finish up their Confirmation retreat this weekend! Saturday, February 9 is the last day offered for their retreat!
We are making up the following days for snow days: February 18 (President's Day), March 29, and June 5th (now the last day of school).
Finally, we offered an opportunity for families to attend a Mad Ants ballgame sponsored by the Allen County Non-Public School Association. It is this Sunday, February 10 at 5PM. Students tickets are FREE and the adults are at a reduced cost!! We encourage families to go have a fun evening and watch a great basketball game!! The flyer is included in today's Wednesday envelope.

Get Schooled Tour
Middle School

We are pleased to announce that on
 February 6th
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School will again be hosting the Get Schooled Tour at our school. This program has been made possible by a grant through the Lutheran Foundation, as an initiative committed to improving the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of our community.

We are also happy to announce that Precious Blood, St. Rose, St. Bernard, St. Aloysius, and St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Middle School students will join us for this presentation.

The Get Schooled Tour is a live band and light show aimed at addressing issues such as bullying, depression and suicidal thoughts. The program uses interactive polling (students will be permitted to use their mobile devices for this and will be on a secure hotspot which will not allow access to any other internet sites) and results are shown on screens in real time to show students that they are not alone in their struggles. Please visit the website:

for additional information and a video clip of the performance.

After the performance, staff from the school and church will be available to speak with students for the remainder of the afternoon if they chose to do so. Students will also be given information on how to reach out to the trained professionals at Remedy Live if they or someone they know should need assistance 24 hours a day - 7 days a week.

The presentation will be Wednesday, February 6 at 8:30 AM in our gym. Parents are welcome to attend!!

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School 2019 CANstruction® Project

Dear Saint Elizabeth Family:

CANstruction® is a unique charity which hosts competitions, exhibitions and events showcasing colossal structures made out of cans of food. This is an innovative competition which incorporates basic and advanced art, design, science, technology, engineering and math principles, (STEM), while instilling the importance of community service. Competing teams are responsible for purchasing canned food and designing/building their structure. After the structures are built, they are on display to the public as a giant art exhibition. Teams are then judged in ten award categories. Saint Elizabeth is proud to be the recipient of the Structural Integrity award in last year's competition. At the end of the event, all food is donated to CANstruction® Fort Wayne, who partners with Community Harvest Food Bank each year to host this unique event.

Community Harvest Food Bank is the largest hunger relief organization in north-east Indiana, annually distributing nearly 13 million pounds of food to a full spectrum of people and organizations in our community. They also operate seven direct-service programs grouped into three key initiatives: Child Hunger Initiative, which includes Kids Cafe®, Feeding Seniors Initiative, and Healthy Families Initiative.

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton School is proud to be one of the area schools participating again this year in this event. In 2018, Fort Wayne CANstruction® competition was able to raise 59,044 lbs. of food. What an amazing feat for our community. That is equivalent to almost 62,400 meals for those who need it the most.

This year's theme is Super Hero's. We have been assigned The Incredible Hulk! We are going to help smash out hunger!

Our goal for 2019 is to raise $5,000 in sponsorships in order to help cover costs of all the canned goods needed in order for our team to create our structure. We would like to start our shopping as soon as possible so we can gather the cans we need for our structure. The more cans we are able to place in our structure, the more people we help feed! We are offering the following sponsorship opportunity for your cooperation and/or family:

  • No donation is too big or too small! Every bit will go to help the hungry.

This donation entitles your business name and/or family name on the back of our team shirts in teared order and to be listed on our display board that is paired with our CANstruction project.

On behalf of the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School CANstruction® team, thank you for your time and consideration. Please do not hesitate to contact Kristin Spoltman with any questions or concerns about our project and sponsorship at (260) 432-4001 or kspoltman@seascsfw.org

Sincerely,

Your CANstruction Advisory Team,

Mrs. Jump, Mrs. Brough, and Mrs. Spoltman
