2019 Property Tax Deadline EXTENDED Statewide | Due April 15
Due to COVID-19, the Florida Department of Revenue Executive Director issued an
emergency order on Thursday which extended the deadline to April 15, 2020 for
ALL Florida counties, not just for Polk and St. John counties as
previously reported.
Taxes are considered timely paid if received by electronic payment or postmarked by April 15, 2020.
In order to proceed with any filed appeals, please be aware that:
- Taxes must be paid by April 15, 2020
- Payment due even if 2019 case has been heard and a reduction obtained
- Under Florida law, appeal automatically denied if not timely paid
- Taxpayers who file VAB petitions required to pay all non-ad valorem plus at least 75% of ad valorem taxes before becoming delinquent
If you have not already done so, we recommend paying ad valorem taxes in full to avoid owing a deficiency plus interest to the Tax Collector. If your appeal is unsuccessful, payment of 75% of your ad valorem taxes risks the imposition of interest on or after the deadline. If the appeal is successful and a reduction is obtained, a refund will be issued.
As conditions and actions are changing rapidly, we will continue to monitor the situation and will keep you informed as updates occur. Any questions, please contact Sabrina Robinson at 305-789-3574 or
