Angie will be teaching Tuesday afternoon ShiningStars and LeapFrogs Prelude classes and offering piano lessons on Tuesday evening and Saturday morning. In addition, she is our new "EarlyBirds" instructor, having worked with the very young for several years.

She extended her college music education experiences with special training in Orff, Kodaly and Dalcroze. Ms Gater was a public school music teacher from 1989-2000 in Texas and Oklahoma. She has been a private music instructor since 2002, teaching piano, voice and flute in Alaska and Arizona! In addition to her general music and private music instruction, Angie has worked with young children in KiddyKeys and Musicology.

Vocal Instruction at MWC with Melissa Landes

Melissa Landes is now teaching lessons at MWC - you may have seen her occasionally last Spring.   She has been offering vocal instruction during our Summer Session and will be teaching singing lessons on Tuesday and Thursday during the academic school year.

Melissa graduated from Grand Canyon University with a major in Vocal Performance and a minor in Piano.  She has recently accepted the position as Choral and Music Director at Scottsdale Christian Academy.  Her love is musical theater, where she has served not only as an accompanist but also as a director.  Miss Landes has worked with the Valley Youth Theater on many occasions and is a familiar face to several of our MWC students from these productions.

King-Wea Ng
Welcome Back !

King-Wea Ng was a familiar face around Music Works Academy several years ago!  As we bid Alex Zawilak a fond farewell after 22 years at Music Works, we welcome King back into our new Community of instructors. King is offering guitar instruction on Wednesday and Saturday to all ages.

Mr. Ng has a master's degree in guitar performance from Texas Tech University. In 1996, he was the recipient of the grand prize in the Malaysia Guitar Festival.

King travels to Music Works from the East Valley, where he teaches beginning strings to 5th and 6th graders in the Gilbert School District.
PMTA Fall Festival 2019

PMTA 2019 Fall Festival

The theme for the 2019 annual Fall Festival is "Haydn, Clementi, Beethoven, Mozart and more....".   Students prepare two piano  selections:  One must be from a Russian composer and the other can be from any other period of literature.

The 2019 Fall Festival and Competition is held on November 9-10 Glendale Community College.  The Adjudication is  on Saturday with a Gold Medal Winner's Recital on Sunday.  Dates TBA.

Summer is a great time to begin preparation for this fall event.  Those students participating in the Fall Festival must have their pieces performance ready for the Music Works October Musicale - a outstanding performance opportunity before the adjudication!

For more information about this event, check out our website Events page.
