Welcome to the 2019 Tellico Summer Solstice Olympic & Sprint Triathlons / Hammer Duathlon & Half Marathon / 5K / 10K runs. The events start 7 AM Saturday with the Olympic Triathlon @ 7 AM, Hammer Duathlon @ 7:10 AM & Sprint Triathlon @7:30 AM and continue Sunday with Half Marathon @ 7 AM & 5K / 10K runs @ 7:30 AM.
 
Water temperature will be posted Wednesday, June 5th. Warmer temperatures are expected through the week and race day water temperature is expected to be above 78 degrees. Wet suits will most likely be only for unofficial purposes. USAT official will make ruling race morning.

RACE LOCATION: The Tellico Recreation Area is located outside Lenoir City, TN just off Rt. 321 on Rt. 444  - Tellico Parkway.  Lenoir City is about 30 miles Southwest of Knoxville. From I-75 exit #81 take Rt. 321/95 towards Maryville approx. 4 miles to exit for Rt. 444 Tellico Parkway. The exit is to the RIGHT just after crossing the Fort Loudon Dam. The Tellico Recreation Area is straight ahead - look for banner. Please park in the field to the left or follow signs for spots right behind transition area.
 
EVENT INFORMATION: 
SATURDAY: Triathlons: Olympic waves 7 AM & 7:03 AM - Duathlon 7:10 AM - Sprint waves 7:30 & 7:33 AM
The swim is a wave start from inside the swim area. The sprint course will be a rectangular course finishing on the beach of the other swim area. Olympic course a straight out & back along full length of Tellico Levy. Keep buoys to your Right. Follow flagging/markings to transition area. Provided swim cap REQUIRED.
 
Triathlon USAT Verification:  PHOTO ID AND USAT LICENSE will be required at check-in. We need to document EXPIRATION DATE.  If you paid one-day license on-line, we will have record. NO EXCEPTIONS - $15 one-day license will be required for those without USAT Card - No Photo ID = No Race. Relays MUST check-in together - all members present.
Sunday: Half Marathon: 7 AM start - 5K / 10K Runs: 7:30 AM mass start at the pavilion parking lot.
 
Triathlons  - Swim verification mats MUST be crossed prior to start per USAT regulations. Follow flagging to swim entrance. Timing splits and finish times will be recorded as you cross the timing mats.  Live Results Link - All USAT rules apply including NO HEADPHONES ANYTIME.
 
TIMING:  Triathlon: disposable tags placed LOOSELY on left ankle - Race bib MUST BE VISIBLE AT FINISH -
 
Warning: USAT has found many injuries / fatalities to be caused by failure to  WARM UP  prior to start. ALL ATHLETES are urged to  WARM UP  either on land or in the water prior to start. Early season Open Water Swims are notorious for a good SHOCK TO YOUR SYSTEM  -  Please warm up prior to start!

Bike Routes: Bikes mounted on Pavilion Road - two quick lefts out of Park onto Tellico Parkway - continue down wide shoulder approx. 5.5 miles to RIGHT onto Davis Ferry Road - approx. 2 miles to LEFT onto Maple Hill Road - up & down approx. 1 mile to Tellico Parkway -  SPRINT turns LEFT & back to park Olympic turns RIGHT on Tellico Parkway for approx. 4 miles to turn-around just before Hwy. 72 & return to park.
 
RUN INFORMATION: The course will be all within the Tellico recreation area. Runners will go out Pavilion road to Right & circle Boat Ramp lot, head back &  LEFT onto the pavilion road,  then Right up onto the levy path, follow paved levy path to Tellico Dam turn-around about 1/2 way down to Dam - turn-around & RETRACE SAME ROUTE to complete 5K (levy, pavilion road, boat ramp lot & pavilion road to finish). 10K 2nd lap run is a repeat of the first with aid just before swim area lot to begin 2nd loop. There are 3 aid stations on the course. Finish under banner & take TRIATHLON FINISHERS MEDAL! Stay to the right on paths during both runs.
 
TRANSITION:  ATHLETES ONLY in TRANSITION  - SHOW # WHEN EXITING WITH GEAR TO BE RELEASED AT COMPLETION OF EVENT
 - Transition Flow: Swim In / Run Out & Bike Out / Bike In - Bike racks will be first come. All competitors will be going through the entire transition area. NO RIDING IN THE TRANSITION AREA. Bike will be mounted and dismounted on Pavilion Road. 
 
USAT Info: ALL USAT RULES APPLY. (follow link to USAT for COMMON RULE VIOLATIONS) USAT official will be present Sunday to clarify questions and concerns. Water temperature will be measured by official Sunday morning & wet suit determination made. 
 
Remember to stay to the far right unless you are passing someone. Helmets must be approved and buckled at ALL TIMES WHILE ON THE BIKE. No HEADPHONES, PHONES, ETC. at any time during event. Take all the photos you want prior to & after the event.
 
Base Performance: Base Performance fluid replacement will be available on run & under the pavilion pre & post event. 
 
SUNDAY: Half Marathon / 5K / 10K - Timing tags will be on back of race number - Please do not cut, fold or alter. Wear on FRONT at finish.

Half Marathon Route: True "out & back" - follow this route within park & out to Tellico Parkway turn-around - re-trace same route to finish - Pavilion Road to right, loop Boat Ramp lot - return to left on Pavilion Road, bear right up onto levy, follow levy to left on ramp & continue out to Tellico Dam, return all teh way down past gate to Tellico Parkway shoulder, continue approximately 4 miles to turn-around - return exact route again to finish - Map Link

5K / 10K - Same routes as described above for triathlons

Safety: Tellico Parkway will have the shoulder coned & Loudon Police at either end. Please stay on the wide shoulder. Headphones - Half Marathon route is on public roads. We discourage headphones and are not responsible should you choose to wear headphones while on public roads.

Note: 
It is recommended all athletes preview courses prior to the event(s). Bike & run courses will be marked by Thursday, June 6th. Please drive the bike course & drive or ride the run course to know each thoroughly. 

We will be using the  LIVE RESULTS via RunSignUp.com  for the Tellico Summer Solistice events. Your finish and splits times will be available virtually immediately to you, family & friends as times enter our scoring programs.  Please make sure you sign up for text /e-mail notifications here & share address with family and friends. 

Finishers medals will be handed out for races as athletes finish.  Please see time schedule for awards ceremonies to be held at FINISH LINE.

Beverages and food will be available after the race. Rudy Project gear and other prize drawings will be made prior to and during awards ceremonies. The 15th annual Fall Creek Falls Triathlons are put on by the folks at Endurance Sports Management (the organizers of a variety of triathlons, running and off-road events in the Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina area). The Olympic distance race began back in 2005 and races have expanded with the recent additions are the  Calfkiller Sprint Triathlon - S 500 mtr. - B 22K - R 5K & Fall Creek Falls Endurance Distance Triathlon -S 1.2 Mi - B 40 Mi - R 12K.  Events continue Sunday, August 18 with  NEW HALF MARATHON , 10K & 5 K runs. The events takes place at Tennessee's most popular state park and is centrally located between Knoxville, Nashville and Chattanooga, making it very accessible.
Fall Creek Falls Park is in Central time zone. If you are traveling from Eastern, enjoy your extra hour! Registration will be open both Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Book camping now to be closest to race site & enjoy all the park has to offer!
The awards top 3 overall & top 3 age group 
for each of the three events and bluegrass music are highlights of a wonderful time to be had by all in this quite rural setting. Also, race shirts, water bottles, sunglasses & race socks (first 400 entries), Finishers Medal and post race cookout!
RACE CAP - Total entries for all triathlon distance races will be 500. Sunday run events cap @ 300.
