2019 Weedy Rice Survey - Responses received!
We would like to send a big thank you to all of the growers and PCA’s that filled out the survey of weedy rice and management practices we sent out in March. We received 156 surveys (118 by mail, 38 online) . We have begun to compile and enter data, and should have preliminary results by the end of the year. Thank you all for your participation!
Weedy Rice Genetic Research Published
Results of the genetic studies conducted during 2016 have been published in the scientific journal Ecology and Evolution. The research looked at the relationships among the different weedy rice types present in California and our commercial varieties. The results show that our weedy rices most likely originated outside of California. The paper is available free here .
