2020 - What a Year!
Happy Holidays
from the
Historic Downtown Snohomish Association!
The Board members of Historic Downtown Snohomish Association (HDSA) would like to wish you and your family a holiday season filled with peace, joy and happiness. Thank you for being such an important part of what HDSA does. Without your talent, dedication, enthusiasm and hours of volunteering, the Downtown Historic District wouldn't be the unique, vibrant, enchanting and welcoming town she is. We look forward to working with you in 2021.

Here are some of our accomplishments through the pandemic year 2020 and HDSA's commitment to promoting, preserving and improving the Downtown Historic District as the heart and soul of the City of Snohomish -
February, 2020 - Chocolate Dipped Snohomish

Snohomish's favorite event! Discovering how merchants create chocolate treats.
March, 2020 - Leprechaun Quest

A scavenger hunt to find the Leprechaun's hiding places in the stores.
April, 2020 - Hanging Baskets

HDSA purchased the hanging baskets from the Snohomish Garden Club and kept them watered and happy.
10th Greatest Small Town in the United States

It took a whole town voting that propelled us to the 10th greatest small town in the USA! (But we know we're really #1)
May, 2020 - Mother's Day Bag

The first ever collection of Snohomish merchants' products for Mom - all in a new, canvas Snohomish "made in Snohomish" bag.
June, 2020 - Father's Day Bag

HDSA bought all items for the bag (we paid full price to support the Snohomish merchants). We sold out within hours.
Historic Downtown Snohomish Map

Over 100 hours went into creating the Historic Downtown Snohomish map! Plus countless hours walking and driving around, taking notes and photos (so we don't have to rely on our memory), talking with merchants and keeping the map updated.
Summer, 2020 - Summer Charm Walk

HDSA turned the popular Charm Walk into "In Person" or "Virtual" and extended the days. This way, everyone had the opportunity to collect the charms safely.
Summer, 2020 - Bentley the Snohomish Put

This was a promotion to let everyone know we were open for business and how to shop safely.
Labor Day Weekend, 2020 - Snohomish Stores Outdoors

This became so popular with both merchants and shoppers that we'll make this an annual event.
Working with the City of Snohomish, restaurants were able to continue serving patrons in tents erected in the street.
September, 2020 - Tweed Ride

This annual event brings out all types of bicycles and riders. Ride into town for a cup of tea and pastry at one of our local bakeries.
During this difficult time, HDSA updated our website with merchant information to ensure all merchants within the Historic Downtown District was represented. Merchant logos, contact information, shopping types (in person, online, phone, email or Facebook Messenger) was listed on the website.

The merchants private Facebook page was continually updated as information changed.
October, 2020 - Zombie Walk

This benefits the Snohomish Community Food Bank. This was "In Person" and "Virtual".
November, 2020 - Holiday Charm Walk

This very popular event was also "In Person" and "Virtual".
Home for the Holidays

Keeping with our November and December traditions, our town was transformed into a Holiday Dreamscape with twinkling holiday lights, decorated storefronts, and magically transformed trees. The Riverfront Gazebo was decorated for photo opportunities with friends and family.

The HDSA came up with an ambitious holiday calendar of events and in the spirit of community, invited our fellow service organizations to help make them a reality.

All our events are designed and planned to comply with COVID-19 safety and social distancing recommendations.

• November 9 to 19 – Snohomish Restaurant Week
• November 9 to December 12 – Giving Trees
• November 12, 13, & 14 – Holiday Open House
• November 12 to 21 – Shop Window Decorating Contest
• November 28 – Santa Arrives! and we Light the Tree
• November 28 & 29 – Socially-Distanced Photos with Santa at Randolph Cellars
• December 5 & 6 – Scavenger Hunt for Santa's Reindeers
December, 2020 - Chase the Grinch Out of Snohomish

This 5K and 10K run was social distanced on the Centennial Trail. 560 participants ("In Person" & "Virtual") enthusiastically dodged the raindrops and had a great time!
For Sale!

The Christmas Giving Trees gave holiday joy to so many families! Now they need a home.

These beautiful, healty, living 5-6' evergreen trees would make a great addition to your yard knowing they gave such joy to so many people. We're asking $200 / tree - all proceeds go to HDSA to help continue promoting Downtown Historic District merchants.

Please email Terry Schuler at terrys.hdsa@gmail.com if you're interested in purchasing a tree.
