Dear Parents of 2020-2021 First Communicants:

All Saints Catholic Church welcomes you and your child to the beginning of the journey to the first reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist! As with many aspects of our lives during these challenging times, we must adapt, change, and be prepared for last minute alternative planning as the situation itself unfolds. The schedule and plan detailed in this email is subject to change as we navigate the Covid-19 pandemic. Please join us in praying for an end to the pandemic and for the health and safety of all our brothers and sisters in our community and in the world. After consultation with All Saints’ school & parish staff and clergy, the following represents our current plan for the celebration of the 2020-2021 Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist for our 2 nd graders and their families.

First Reconciliation will be held on Monday, November 30 at St. Vincent Ferrer, Tuesday, December 1 at All Saints and Wednesday, December 2 at All Saints. You will receive your assigned date for Reconciliation in the 1st Reconciliation folder that you will receive in late August/early September. This folder will be sent home with All Saints school children in their backpacks and available for pick up in the Parish Center lobby for FLOCK 2nd graders. We will let you know soon the date that these will be available. Each family will be given a staggered arrival time to ensure social distancing and small groups in the Church on these evenings. A face covering must be worn for confession to protect both the child and the confessor, the priest will wear a face covering as well.

For First Communion 2021, names have been drawn by lottery to determine your Mass assignment. This is in keeping with the parish community aspect of the sacraments as mandated by the Archdiocese. The parish community comes together to celebrate as our young people join us at the table for Eucharist. This is the first preference of our Archbishop and our Pastor in the celebration of First Communion. As many of you know, we had to celebrate First Communions in private Masses (not at our regularly scheduled Saturday/Sunday Mass times) this summer for our 2020 First Communicants. If the pandemic requires us to change Mass plans, we will go this route again for the 2021 First Communion class. For now, we are hoping for something "closer to normal" for the Spring of 2021.

The First Communion Masses will tentatively take place at All Saints Church during the regular weekend liturgies: 4:30 pm on Saturday, April 24, 2021 and 9:00 am and 11:00 am on Sunday, April 25, 2021 . Your assigned Mass date and time will be included in the 1st Reconciliation folder that you will receive in a few weeks time.
All Saints staff, teachers, catechists, and clergy are all looking forward to sharing this journey of faith with you. Please know that we will do everything in our power to ensure safe and sacred celebrations for all.
