To Our SEL 2020 Conference Community,
As we watch the world around us band together to understand and mitigate the harmful spread of COVID-19, we have decided to
cancel our 2020 Conference on Social Emotional Learning
originally scheduled for April 24-25 presented by the Tyree Institute at Wolcott School and Northwestern Master of Science in Education. The health and safety of our conference community and our collective community is second to none.
While we make unprecedented decisions to close schools and institutions across Chicago and the nation, we also recognize that the need for SEL is greater now than ever. Margaret Wheatley once said, "There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about."
As we face changes in the coming weeks and months together, we must do so with intentionality, with regard for one another, and with SEL. We must choose to uplift each other and choose to care about one another. May our connections, commitments to the health and wellness of young people, and our perseverance in continuing to commit to the social-emotional health of one another guide us through these extraordinary times.
Below, we have compiled a short list of our current favorite resources related to SEL, school closures, and making sense of COVID-19.
Wishing you all health, safety, and wellness.
