Our DKG/Ohio State Organization Convention will be March 20-22, 2020, at the Embassy Suites in Dublin. The convention starts on the second day of spring and almost two weeks after Daylight Savings Time begins. As you look out the window, you may think that is a long time from now, but it’s less than three months away. Now is the time to register for the convention and book your room if you’ve not done that. You don’t want to miss out on all the happenings at this year’s convention. You will find the registration form, information about making a hotel reservation, “Convention at a Glance,” and the Educational Excellence Chapter Foster Care Initiative, the choir and the AGORA forms in this convention issue of The Voice. Below are some of the highlights of the 2020 DKG/OSO Convention.
CATHY DAUGHERTY, THE INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT OF DKG, WILL BE OUR INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE WEEKEND.
Friday, March 20:
- You will want to experience the Taste of Ohio/Taste of DKG VIP Kickoff Jamboree! Taste a variety of foods from the state of Ohio and enjoy products that are made and sold by Ohio vendors. Bring a potential member, newly inducted member, and/or a chapter member who is a first-time convention attendee and earn Gold Key Polish Points for your chapter. Relax and enjoy live music. Hear what other chapters are doing to support foster care in Ohio.
- For those arriving early, Bev Babbert of Delta Theta chapter has organized a luncheon trip to the historic Spaghetti Warehouse, followed by a tour of the new Veterans’ Memorial and Museum…. which is just across the street from the restaurant.
- Once again there will be a special session for those who will be attending the DKG Convention for the first time. This will be a fun time to learn what happens at the convention with other “first-timers.”
- The Alpha Delta State Ohio Educational Foundation meeting is open to all DKG members. Plan to attend and learn how your generous donations are benefitting women educators throughout Ohio and the world.
- If one of your talents is singing, add your voice to the Ohio State Organization chorus.
Saturday, March 21:
- Start your day with a delicious, hot breakfast provided free of charge by the Embassy Suites for guests who are staying at the hotel.
- After the Executive Board Meeting and General Session, a number of breakout sessions are available for your personal and professional growth. Our international guest, Cathy Daugherty, will address proposed changes for 2020. OSO committees will share ideas and information that will benefit the growth of our local chapters. Other sessions will focus on foster care, teen suicide, and empowering our youth. If you are interested in reading and discussing an informative book on child trauma, there will be a book review of, The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog by Dr. Bruce Perry.
- The birthday luncheon is always a special time to celebrate DKG, to recognize our members, and to support ADSOEF as the Foundation supports current and future educators.
- The Embassy Suites provides a free, late afternoon reception in the atrium for those staying at the hotel.
- The Presidents’ Banquet is an opportunity to recognize and honor all chapter presidents, as well as, past state presidents. Proudly support your chapter president by attending and enjoying this special dinner. International President Cathy Daugherty will be the featured speaker for the event.
Sunday, March 22:
- The Celebration of Life service is always a beautiful way to remember and honor our DKG sisters who have passed away during the year.
- The Inspirational Breakfast (at no extra charge for those staying at the Embassy Suites) is a meaningful way to bring the DKG/OSO Convention to a close. The keynote speaker will be Rebecca Psigoda, who is the co-creator of Infinite Possibilities “I Believe in Me,” a youth empowerment program.
Make plans now to attend the 2020 DKG/OSO Convention! Don’t miss this opportunity to spend an extraordinary weekend with fellow chapter members and to meet DKG sisters from all parts of Ohio.

Educational Excellence...
Chapter Foster Care Initiative
|
|
We realize chapters in Ohio are doing great things with our DKG/OSO Foster Care Initiative and have developed many amazing foster care projects/programs within their own local communities. From sponsoring foster children to summer camp to donating toys, games, books, back packs, “bags of necessities” to local Jobs and Family Services agencies (and other entities as well) to assist those in need. We also know much more is being done around our state that we simply are unaware of. We are looking for and seeking chapters who are willing to share their foster care efforts with us. This is your chapter’s
opportunity
to “shine”…plus we want to feature
YOU
at our 2020 State Convention!
