Tips for Pre-Entries
  1. Recommended browsers: Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Older versions of Internet Explorer may cause unexpected results.
  2. Log into FairEntry with your 4-H Online account.
  3. Register all entries for each exhibitor in the family before proceeding to the Payment Section.
  4. Be sure to click the “Submit” button when you have completed your entries. Entries are not final until they have been submitted.
  5. Check your email for a confirmation email with a list of your entries and any related fees.
  6. Please note any judging times you signed up for!

While we had to change a few things this year, we tried to keep as many things the same as possible!
To the left is a link to our current schedule for this year's fair (You can also find a copy of this document in the Fair Book). Please remember that this schedule is not set in stone and is subject to change! We will do our best to update you as we make adjustments nearing the fair!
This year's Fair Books will look a little bit different than usual. We have decided to upload all of the information onto an online link accessible from any computer or mobile device. We will still print a few paper copies, but we hope that by making the Fair Book available online, more people will have access to all of the information they will need for this year's fair! We have included a link (right) to help you begin preparing your projects! (We suggest downloading the document so that you don't have to open the link every time you need to read the Fair Book)
2020 Fair Book
Purple Ribbon Food Auction
The Purple Ribbon Food Auction will take place on Friday, July 24 , during the Cattleman's Community Picnic. The auction will start at 5:45 p.m. during the meal entertainment's intermission. The location is set for the tree area west of the Outdoor Arena. We will share more information with those that qualify following judging at the county fair. 
 
Tentatively, the Saddle and Ropers building will be available to leave items that evening. However, please be prepared with coolers or anything else you may need to help preserve your food item. 

Cookies for College Cookie Jars will be auctioned at the Livestock Premium Auction on Saturday night. 
Cloverbud Entries
T-Shirt Orders
The Cloverbud 4-H’ers are more than welcome to bring entries to the fair! They will get a chance to meet with the judge, just like all the other youth, and share what they learned. Cloverbuds will earn participation ribbons and will not be eligible for the Kansas State Fair, the Premium or Purple Ribbon Food Auction, or for ribbon premium money. They WILL, however, gain valuable experience in the fair judging process and will take home the pride that goes along with completing a project until the end! We are excited to have this up-and-coming group of kids join us!
 
Don’t forget to pick up your t-shirts at the fair office during operating hours! The t-shirts for our 4-H’ers are provided free of charge thanks to the sponsors. Other family members and 4-H supporters can order a t-shirt by filling out the Google Form linked below. The cost will be $12 per shirt, and the deadline to order is July 10th. Do not order your 4-Her a t-shirt! They will order when entering for the fair!
Fairgrounds Set-Up
Fairgrounds Set-Up will look a little different this year. To try and reduce any confusion (and help make social distancing more achievable), we are creating a Signup Genius for families to choose which jobs they would like to help with. The Kingman County Fair Association is still planning on providing a pizza party for all of the workers, and the livestock exhibitors' meeting will still be in the indoor arena after set-up. We hope that each family will be able to sign up for one of the jobs so that we can make set-up night more efficient!
QR Codes
Our office will be utilizing QR codes this year at the fair. We think it will be a simplified way to connect 4-H families and visitors to the information they need!

How to Scan a QR code:
  • If you have an iOS device, simply point your camera at the QR image (without taking a picture of it), and your phone will automatically direct you to the correct link.

  • If you have an Android or other type of mobile device, you will need to download a QR code reading app from the app store on your phone and follow the instructions within that program.

If you are not able to use a phone to scan QR codes- don't worry! We will still make the information available to you through other means; we are simply trying out this method to see how it works!

Fair Photography
Our Fair Photographer, Audrey Birkenbaugh, will be taking pictures at the fair again this year! You can see all of last year's photos on her Shutterfly website,   kingmanphotography.shutterfly.com , or her new Facebook page,
She will only be posting this year's photos on the Facebook page (not the Shutterfly account) so that more people will have access to the pictures.
Please feel free to view, enjoy, and download any of her photos. This is an excellent opportunity for parents to find pictures to put in this year's record books!
Updated Exhibit Information
  • Judging will be set up differently this year. To eliminate the amount of people in the Expo Center during the judging times, 4-Hers will need to sign up for a time slot during the enrollment process on FairEntry. Each slot is 10 minutes long per-project; this should be plenty of time for 4-Hers to consult with the judge and receive feedback and a ribbon.
  • Please show up ONLY at your designated time. The building will be closed to the public during judging, so if you are early, you will need to wait outside until it is your turn. Please try to be on time, as we will be running a very tight schedule to ensure that all of the 4-Hers can meet with the judges.
  • You will need to bring your project with you at your assigned judging time (there will not be an early drop off option available this year), and we will only display your projects after they have been judged.
  • We are trying to consider proper social distancing and hygiene measures during the fair this year, so please be patient with us as we try to figure out all of the details. This is a new experience for everyone, and we need your support if we hope to have a successful fair!
Cookies for College
ANYONE can enter the Commissioners' Cookies for College Contest! This is not limited to 4-H groups! Families, offices, churches, organizatinons. ANYONE can enter! Spread the word!!
Fashion Revue Entry Reminders
You've bought your outfit for Buymanship, you've finished sewing your constructed clothing, you have all the accessories you need... now what? Write your script! We will need a paragraph description of your outfit. For example: "Sally Clover is ready for picture day at school in this brown and turquoise dress outfit. The polyester top has a ruffled neckline accented with a turquoise flower and sparkle scattered print design. It has an empire waist which ties in the back, and pleats add fullness to the top. The top has been matched with brown cotton tights and turquoise flip-flops. She has made turquoise jewelry to complete her look. Sally will be a 3rd grader this fall."
To turn this information in, you can use the Script Information Form included with the pre-entry packet and linked below. You will also need to give us a color photo of you wearing your outfit! You can print this out on paper and bring it in, mail it in, or simply email it to us! Without these details, you will not be able to participate in the Fashion Revue.
Judging for the Fashion Revue will be  Tuesday, July 14, 4:00 p.m. at the Kingman Expo Center. The public revue will be  Sunday, July 19 , at the Kingman Historic Theatre. There will be a practice at  2 p.m. , and the show begins at  3 p.m.

Foods and Nutrition
The foods judging will take place on Wednesday, July 22nd . Please do not bring your project exhibit beforehand; you will need to bring it during the judging time slot you selected during Fair Pre-Entry.

Woodworking
Woodworking requires a plan for the project you are entering. You will also need to turn in a Woodworking Project form listing the details of costs and time spent on your project. These forms are available at the Extension Office and also online under the County Fair Category. For more information about this project, see the instructions in the Fair Book.
Kansas State Fair 4-H Sign Up
If you are nine as of January 1, 2020, and your exhibit has qualified for the Kansas State Fair, you need to be signed up no later than Saturday, August 1, 2020 . YOU WILL NOT BE AUTOMATICALLY ENTERED IF YOU QUALIFY. You need to physically sign the sign-up book to enter.
Updated Livestock Rules
  • Exhibitors will not be required to stall their animals at the fair this year. We are offering a show-and-go option for any family who would prefer to bring their animals the day of the show and take them home afterward. If 4-Hers are participating in the Livestock Premium Auction, they will need to bring their animal to the fairgrounds again on Saturday night for the live auction.
  • If you plan to keep your animal at the fair, you must sign up for your stall when you enroll in FairEntry. You will be prompted to select how many animals you will be stalling (if any) and will be charged accordingly. Stall cards are available in the Fair Office and your Fair Packet.
  • Weigh-in times will only be available before and after each livestock show (instead of altogether on Wednesday morning). All market animals must be weighed before the show so that we can create the classes. Any exhibitor that would like to weigh a breeding/ dairy animal will need to wait until after the show to eliminate the number of people at the scales beforehand.
  • Intent to Sell forms are due by noon on Friday, July 24, in the Fair Office.
  • Barns must be empty and Cleaned out by 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 26.
Animal Weigh-In/Check-In Times
Swine: Wednesday, July 22, 5:30 - 6:00 p.m.
Sheep & Goats: Thursday, July 23, 2:30-3:30 p.m.
Beef: Friday, July 24, 7:00-8:00 a.m.
Poultry must be caged: Friday, July 24, 7:30 a.m.
Rabbits must be caged Friday, July 24, 10:00 a.m.
Livestock Weight Limits
Swine: 220- 300 lbs.
Sheep: 90- No Max
Goats: No Min. or Max
Beef: Minimum of 1,000 lbs.

*A 3lb. allowance is allowed at your weigh-in. For example, if your hog weighs 303, it will be considered to weigh 300 lbs.*
Auction & Buyers' Meal Updates
The 2020 Buyers' Meal and Auction will be held on Saturday, July 25. Here's what you need to know:
  1. The Buyers' Meal will be held at 5:00 p.m. and will still require club assistance. Please follow the Concession Stand Schedule for details on when your club's shift is and work with your leader to get the necessary workers.
  2. Social distancing and proper hygiene procedures will be considered at this year's auction to ensure all buyers and 4-Hers can safely participate.
  3. The Buyers' Meal is only for potential buyers. There will be a meal provided beforehand for 4-Hers in the Saddle and Ropers Building. We will post signs and share information about this as it comes available.
  4. The auction will take place at 6:00 p.m.
  5. 4-Hers can only run ONE livestock and ONE Foods item through the fair auctions.
  6. Anyone putting an item through the Livestock Premium Auction will be assessed a $10 Buyers' Meal fee to help cover the cost of the meal for our supporters. This will come out of your check from the Kingman County Fair Association.
  7. All 4-Hers planning to sell at the Premium Auction must fill out the Premium Auction Eligibility Requirements Form by Friday, July 10, 2020, and drop it off at our office. The form needs the signatures of the 4-Her, his/her parent, and the 4-H club leader.

Kingman County Fair Escape Room!
One of the newest additions to this year's county fair will be the Virtual Escape Room!
We are working on creating a challenging and exciting virtual adventure for our 4-Hers, their families, and their friends to complete during the fair! Be on the lookout around the fairgrounds for QR codes posted to connect you to the game which you can play on your phone or computer!
It's back! Everyone's favorite fair activity, Barnyard Olympics, is returning to the Kingman County and 4-H Fair! This year's obstacle course will be bigger and better than ever, with exciting games that will challenge even the most experienced veterans!
Join us on  Wednesday, July 22 , for a fun evening of competition and laughter as we kick off the 2020 Kingman County Fair! Registration begins at  7:00 p.m. , and is free with your fair button. 
All teams must be composed of four members (at least one boy and one girl). Teams of any age are welcome! We will start the first relay at  7:30 p.m. If you don't plan on entering as a contestant, bring a lawn chair/ blanket and simply enjoy watching the show!
While we are trying to run this fair as "normally" as possible, we had to cancel a few events since many groups were unable to meet during the year to prepare for the fair. We expect these cancellations only to affect this year's fair, and we are hopeful that everything will be able to return to normal next year!

*Any Open Class project prepared for this year can be entered in next year's fair. We still want to see you show off all of your hard work!
Expo Center Updates
While the concession stand is still offering many of the same great classics they are famous for, they have decided to provide a more limited menu this year to accommodate social distancing and proper hygiene requirements. They will also have more strict rules for the volunteers working in the concession stand. There will be signage in and around the concession stand to inform workers and customers of how they can protect themselves and others while preparing and enjoying their meals.
Exciting news! The Kingman County 4-H Council Concession Stand is now offering the option of credit/debit payments! They hope that this new addition will make a visit to the concession stand more convenient for you and your wallet!

The Exhibit Building will have different hours than usual this year to accommodate the increased need to sanitize everything at night. It will be open from 7:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m. Wednesday- Friday , and 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. on Saturday . The building will also be closed during 4-H judging times, so please plan your visits accordingly!
Health Concerns
We will try to accommodate everyone's health concerns as much as possible during the fair; we understand that proper hygiene and social distancing are still priorities for many people.
Several hand washing stations will be available around the fairgrounds and within the Expo Center. The buildings will be sanitized every night, and signage will be visibly posted to inform visitors of how they can stay safe while at the fair.
We encourage frequent hand washing and social distancing, but we do not require face masks.
Please stay home if you are not feeling well!
