2020 SEASON UPDATE

Regarding the 2020 hunting season, many rumors, half- truths, and outright lies are being propagated on social media by unscrupulous safari companies and others posing as companies, offering silly bargain hunts and specials for this season, stipulating that hunting will resume later in the year. Please be wary and note that most of these are scams designed to solicit monies from unsuspecting foreign clients (Americans mostly). I’ve even had clients of mine contact me and ask when I was going over for the season as they saw that guys were beginning to operate. This is a lie. They are NOT operating. Not in South Africa.

Let me be clear…right now there is absolutely no international hunting occurring in South Africa and none is expected to occur in 2020. Just today limited local hunting has been authorized with the stipulation that those hunting must remain in their respective provinces. Limited, domestic flights are beginning to resume but for business purposes only and international flights are only expected to possibly begin again in December, not sooner. Regarding international flights, South African Airways had declared bankruptcy and at this time, is no longer in business. Delta Airlines has grounded its long haul 777 planes which were used for long distance international flights but has stated that once travel to South Africa resumes, it will continue flights using its Airbus fleet which will require stopping in Cape Town on the return flight. United Airlines was scheduled to begin direct flights from the US to Cape Town in December but with this pandemic, that may be in jeopardy. We are staying on top of this situation and will only provide current and correct information to our clients. Anything you see on social media must be scrutinized thoroughly given the volumes of bad info being put out. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me for accurate information that you can trust.

Ken Moody Safaris is completely solvent as we continue to book hunts for 2021 and 2022. Our long 26-year history of providing quality, top shelf safaris has seen us through this crisis, and we’ve booked several camps for next year in just the past two months. We look forward to a spectacular ’21 season as this year's rest will ensure that game quantity and quality will be outstanding. If you want to join us, please note that availability for next year is limited. There are still a few openings, particularly in April and September, but we are at 80% capacity now. I can’t wait to hit the bush and get on some buffalo. Next season cannot come quick enough! Contact me to see if we can get you into what should prove to be our most productive season ever.

We normally book two years out and now is the time to secure your reservation for a future hunt. 2022 is currently open and we are taking bookings now for that season.

Thank You,

Ken Moody
