2020 Mini-Grants for Providers & Educators
Dear Early Learning Small Businesses and Educators,

ELC Broward is happy to announce the availability of three mini-grants that should provide some financial relief to both providers and educators/instructors. Overall, there are three types of mini-grants available.

  1. Support of business operations and infrastructure - up to $1000
  2. Cleaning supplies and Personal Protective Equipment (masks, gloves, etc.) - up to $1,000
  3. Professional Development & Training
Mini-Grants #1 & #2: Infrastructure and Supplies
Description:
Child care programs will be funded up to $1,000 per mini-grant for a total of up to $2,000 per site.
 
Eligibility:
  • You must have a School Readiness or VPK contract with the ELC
  • Your child care program must be open or scheduled to reopen within 10 days of the application submission date (to the ELC)
  • Your program cannot be on probation or have a corrective action plan with the ELC (with some exceptions, see FAQ)

Mini-Grant #3: Instructor/Educator Training Stipends
Description:
The third mini-grant will offer training stipends for child care educators who have taken, or who will be taking specific OEL approved statewide trainings. Each eligible educator may receive $75 for each completed training, for up to $750 total for completing ten listed State approved trainings. 

Eligibility:
  • Your school must have a School Readiness or VPK contract with the ELC
  • Your program cannot be on probation or have a corrective action plan with the ELC (with some exceptions, see FAQ)
  • Instructors/Educators must complete OEL Approved Statewide Trainings (and retain completion certificate(s)) – see link below
 
To apply for mini-grant 3 (Provider Process):

 Instructor/Educator Payment Instructions (for mini-grant 3):
  • Register for OEL approved trainings
  • Complete the training course
  • Download the training course certificate of completion
  • Fill out educator portion of the Program Guidance 240.20 Tracking Disaster Costs Attachment 2
  • Ensure the director/owner fills out their section of this form (Attachment 2)
  • Email the completed Program Guidance 240.20 Tracking Disaster Costs Attachment 2 and your training certificate to elcbtraining@elcbroward.org


Important Note to Instructors/Educators:
Training stipends are paid directly to educators. In order for individual educators to receive child care training stipends, they MUST follow the above payment instructions.

OEL Approved Statewide Trainings 
OEL has identified a list of 14 OEL/DCF online courses, 8 online modules/courses in the Early Learning Florida Health and Safety training and 2 online modules of training on myTeachstone to choose from. See the attached table of trainings for more registration and fee information.
