Good evening,

Like many of you, NASW - Massachusetts Chapter has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak. We take this matter very seriously and we are working to ensure that we are prepared, informed, and a trusted resource for our members and stakeholders as we all work together to get through this time. After exploring options to go virtual, I regret to inform you that we have decided to cancel our 2020 Legislative Education and Advocacy Day (LEAD) event on Monday, March 23, 2020.

Given time constraints and scheduling concerns as a result of the pandemic, we do not believe we could produce the quality of event we owe to you all. For those of you wanting to take action and help advance any of the 7 bills we were going to feature at LEAD, click the links below to send a pre-drafted email to your state legislators :
A couple of things to note:
  • Schools that provided a registration code to students and faculty members to register for LEAD will not be issued an invoice or required to pay for registered participants.
  • All students who registered individually will be issued a refund. NASW-MA staff will be in contact with you to provide additional information.

Again, it was not an easy decision to cancel our most effective advocacy event of the year, but given our constraints this is the best possible decision at this time. At NASW-MA, we encourage you to heed the advice of health experts. You can see guidance from NASW here to take for yourself, your students, and the clients and communities served by both social work students and professionals.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions. If you are a member of NASW-MA, keep an eye on your inbox for our bulletin updates regarding COVID-19. We are also updating our website periodically with information regarding COVID-19 .

Thank you and be well,
