Dear Friends of the TxCHP community,
We know that you are aware of and have some concerns about the potential impact of the Coronavirus COVID-19 that has been going around. I have had a chat with the Mayor of Frisco, who has spoken with the Governor specifically about our event. I have also had phone conversations with several emergency preparedness organizations regarding what we should do about the Texas Christian Homeschool Prom.
Currently, prom is over 6 weeks away. There are NO cases of “community spread” in North Texas at this time, only isolated cases of people who were in places that did have community spread of the virus. The isolated cases are being managed well by the health departments. Our event is also considered a low-risk group, and we have several police officers, fire fighters, EMTs, doctors, and nurses serving onsite during prom night. We are taking every precaution, including developing protocols for the night of prom as the situation warrants.
The Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator of Frisco said that
the Governor and Mayor are not recommending cancellations at this time
. Therefore, we are not planning to cancel unless we are directed to do so by the CDC, Frisco Emergency Operations Center, or other governing authority that has jurisdiction over that decision. If that decision does get mandated to us, we will coordinate with our event’s ticketholders at that time.
As I’m sure you know, this organization is a non-profit run entirely by volunteer homeschooling families. We do not take salaries from TxCHP. However, we do have contracts and obligations based on your ticket purchases with the hotel, convention center, and other vendors. If the virus impacts our ability to have our event, we will work with those suppliers to see if there is any way for them or for us to recover any finances to pass back along to you.
Please do not request refunds at this time.
If you wish to sell your ticket to someone else who does want to attend, you are welcome to use the TxCHP Ticket Forum on Facebook through March 25 to transfer your ticket or other purchases to those interested.
This organization is filled with Christian believers. We are intentional about operating from a place of peace and great faith, rather than fear or panic. This event has been tremendously blessed by the Lord and has continued to grow every year. We are going to do everything in our power to continue this incredible event and hope that you will join us in praying for that. We also lift up any who have been personally impacted by virus spread or who are still fearful about what the future holds.
Thank you for your love and concern for our beautiful homeschooling community.
Blessings,
Sunny Lerch,
Director, Texas Christian Homeschool Prom
, on behalf of the Board of Directors, Leadership Team, and all the families participating in TxCHP
