Survey Says...SRBR Biennial Conference is Going Virtual!

In response to the survey that was sent out to see who would support a virtual conference, we had an overwhelming positive response of well over 300 individuals who would like to participate in a virtual conference and over 100 of those were not planning to attend the physical conference in Florida!  We are excited to fulfill our mission, to promote the advancement and dissemination of research in all aspects of biological rhythms, in this capacity.

As we approach the transition to a virtual conference, we want to humbly state that SRBR is a not-for-profit organization that depends heavily on its biennial conference to sustain its financial well-being. Like other professional organizations that hold conferences, SRBR has made up-front investments to plan and execute a Biennial Conference and while SRBR cannot be released from all its financial obligations, with the support of our members and exhibitors we will be able to provide an education conference, support our TYDE and Global Trainee Awards and meet our financial obligations.

Below you will HEAR first hand from your SRBR Program and Fundraising Chairs to encourage you to join us for this Virtual Conference.

Update from the Chronohistory Committee

Corona shut-downs have changed our daily routines. Maria Korman and Till Roenneberg have made a questionnaire that will help them understand its effects on the body clock. They need your help to distribute the link as widely as possible. Please start an avelange and share: survey.sogosurvey.com/r/GCCS20

Update from Government Affairs

In the wake of COVID-19, Congress has made some adjustments but continues to work on Fiscal Year 2021 funding and policy  priorities. In February, SRBR worked with the Sleep Research Society and Project Sleep to visit representatives of NIH and congress.  We are thrilled that 41 membres of the U.S. House of Representatives signed a bipartisan letter on March 17th, 2020, supporting critical sleep and circadian disorcers research and awareness.  Please CLICK HERE  for more information.

SRBR on Reddit to address questions about sleep & circadian rhythms during social distancing

SRBR hosted an Ask Us Anything on Reddit to address questions from the community about the importance of sleep and circadian rhythms in this time of social distancing and quarantining.  spending an increasing amount of time indoors, with low levels of daytime lighting, the use of electric light at night, and limited exercise possibilities changes our daily schedule dramatically.  These drastic changes can send confusing signals to our circadian clock and disrupt our sleep, which may have consequences for our health and wellbeing.  During the Reddit session, a team of SRBR members addressed questions about daylight exposure, exercise, and regular meal timing on sleep and health, including the immune system.  Check it out the questions & answers here
