In Service ~
Abraham was initiated by
Murshid Samuel Lewis in early 1970. He has generously and skillfully served the Sufi message and the Ruhaniat for decades ~ as Murshid to many mureeds; through
SAMA, the Sufi center that he and wife,
Halima created to serve the Northeast regional community; as a member and consultant to the
Board of Trustees spanning 16 years; as an advisor and support to staff; as co-chair of the
Ethics Council; as a member of the Dances of Universal Peace
Leaders Guild; and as spiritual director and/or organizer of countless retreats, including many Jamiat Khas retreats.
In his professional work as a psychotherapist, he has a deep respect for the healing power of love, relationships and community. In this light, Abraham serves as friend, mediator, confidante, and communicator and has taken on varied roles and assignments to assist people in the Ruhaniat community. The gifts of his time, expertise, kind heart and wisdom have been of benefit to so many people in the Ruhaniat, and through so many different ways - it is immeasurable.
Abraham met his wife, Halima, in 1972 at a Sufi Camp. They raised 4 sons and their family has grown to include their spouses and 2 beautiful granddaughters. Abraham is a dedicated musician, composer, gardener and candle-maker. Their home base is in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
