August 2020 Program Updates
As you begin new projects or continue with ongoing construction projects, remember to actively communicate with your Account Manager and mention any project delays or changes to the scope of work. Your Account Manager is here to guide you through the process and will provide you with the necessary forms every step of the way.

If you have any questions about the status of your projects, please reach out to your Account Manager for a status update. Please refer to the Contractor Resources page for all up-to-date documents and resources needed during construction and close-out.

2020 Submittal, Construction, and Close-Out Deadlines

To ensure ample time to process your projects and incentive payments during 2020, the SoCalREN Multifamily Program has set a number of submittal and construction deadlines for the remainder of this year. Please review the dates below and work with your Account Manager as needed to meet the deadlines.
  • Last Day to submit utility bills for service account verification: 9/2/20
  • Last Day for new project enrollment (signed Property Owner Agreement): 9/2/20
  • Last Day for site pre-inspection/assessment: 9/18/20
  • Last Day to commit projects for 2020 completion (signed reservation letter): 9/25/20
  • Last Day to complete project construction: 11/24/20
  • Last Day to submit project close-out documentation (e.g. final invoices, permit forms, etc.): 12/11/20
Announcements
The SoCalREN Multifamily Program has developed COVID-19 letters and door hangers to help Participating Contractors and Property Owners to inform tenants about the safety measures being followed. These materials are available at no cost to you or your customers. Visit the Contractor Resources page for more information and to order these notification materials.  
Financing opportunities for participating customers are coming in September. Make energy-saving upgrades and enjoy below-market financing! Watch your inbox for more details on the Multifamily Financing Program. We will provide training, marketing materials, and additional support to help Participating Contractors offer financing to customers. 
Program Advertising Campaign
The SoCalREN Multifamily Program is pleased to announce the launch of an advertising campaign to promote the program to potential customers. Please review your company’s listing on our Find a Contractor page to ensure that your contact information is accurate and current.

Technical Tips: Pools and Pool Pumps
Did you know that adjusting the speed and flow rate of your customers’ newly installed programmable variable speed drive pool and spa pumps, as well as setting the pool pump operation to the appropriate run time based on the site’s turnover requirement, maximizes their efficiency? By adjusting these few settings, you are likely to help your customers capture all the energy savings proposed in the Assessment Report while meeting the California Energy Code calibration standards. 
SoCalREN Energy Efficiency Learning Center 
As a reminder, the SoCalREN Energy Efficiency Learning Center (EELC) is available for you and your staff to take e-learning courses at your convenience from the comfort and safety of your home or office. The SoCalREN EELC is available to you at no cost as a Participating Contractor. The EELC offers a growing catalog of courses in a variety of categories including:
  • HVAC
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Commercial Energy Efficiency
  • Building Performance Institute (BPI)
  • Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET)
  • North American Technician Excellence (NATE)
  • Continuing Education Unit (CEU)

All these accredited courses are currently housed in the EELC. Currently, there are more than 80 active courses available. To access these courses, please email the SoCalREN team, and we will create a login for you and any staff members interested in taking advantage of this SoCalREN Program benefit.
