Samohi Wind Symphony
2020 California Performance Tour
Dear Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble Parents,

On March 12-15, 2020, our students will represent Southern California on a tour to San Francisco and Sonoma. Included in this tour will be an exchange performance with a local high school, participation in the 8th Annual Sonoma Invitational Festival, and a music clinic with Dr. Leo Sakamoto, Director of Instrumental Studies at Cal-State Bakersfield.

Other highlights will include touring San Francisco and possibly attending a performance of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. This will be the third time our group will be participating in this tour, and it is a great musical experience for our students!

IMPORTANT: In order to continue making arrangements with our tour company, we need to know as soon as possible if your student can participate.

We anticipate the cost of the tour to be approximately $1,000 per student. Under state law and SMMUSD policy, a field trip is not authorized if any student would be excluded from participation because of a lack of sufficient funds. If you would like to apply for financial aid/scholarship, please contact Mr. McKeown directly

If you are able to contribute, you can use the commitment form above to either pay in full or to make your first contribution of $330 by the October 7 deadline. If you would like to contribute via cash or check, please make checks out to "SMAPA-Bands" and put the contribution in a sealed envelope in the band room mailbox by October 7.

Please know that we want every Wind Symphony and interested Wind Ensemble student to be able to take part in this experience, and we will all be working together to raise funds for those who are unable to afford the cost of the trip — especially through our tour fundraiser, Bands at the Broad, which is happening on February 11, 2020.

Our success at fundraising could lower the tour cost for each family and will be reflected in the amount of the final contribution.
