Year 1 and Year 2 GOCSD BTAP Cohort Information
GOCSD is once again offering our Beginning Teacher Year 1 and Year 2 Cohorts for the 2021 - 2022 school year. The Cohorts will be led by Dr. Tracey Hankins. Please refer to specific information about each cohort outlined below.

In order to plan for the Year 1 Cohort Innovation Summit kickoff and regional meeting sites for both cohorts, we're asking for your assistance in reserving the number of registrations from your district for each cohort for the coming year. You will have the option to update your final numbers in early July.

YEAR 1 Cohort Content & Focus
The Year 1 Cohort, designed for those in their first year of teaching, will satisfy the beginning teacher requirements for new teachers.
The face-to-face sessions will focus on the following components:
  • High quality teachers
  • The principles of learning
  • Classroom management/student relationships
  • Effective collaboration/mutual learning behaviors
  • Collaborative lesson study related to engaging rigorous differentiate instruction/lessons
  • Assessment
  • Parent involvement/communication
  • Legal information
YEAR 1 Cohort Sessions
Lead by Dr. Tracey Hankins
$100 Registration fee includes: 
  • 2021 Innovation Summit Registration fee
  • lunch for sessions 1, 3, and 4
Optional graduate credit available
*Kickoff sessions in conjunction with 2021 Innovation Summit at the Branson Hilton Convention Center Branson, MO 
  • Session 1 8/5/21 10:30a - 3:45p (lunch provided)
  • Session 2 8/6/21 8:30 - 10:15a 
  • Mentor Session 8/16/21 8:30 - 10:15a
*Session 3 Fall 2021 face-to-face 6 hour session held at regional site (lunch provided)
*Session 4 Spring 2022 face-to-face 6 hour session held at regional site (lunch provided)
YEAR 2 Cohort Content & Focus
The Year 2 Cohort, designed for those in their second year of teaching. The face-to-face and virtual sessions will focus on the following components:
  • Continued professional development focused on Year 1 Cohort goals focusing on teacher development and leadership
  • Extended learning focused on high quality lesson design, embedded formative assessments, and evaluative assessments
  • Research-based instructional strategies to engage students and increase student achievement
  • Utilization of technology and resources to equip every student with 21st century skills
  • Embedding Formative Assessment book study
YEAR 2 Cohort Sessions
Lead by Dr. Tracey Hankins
$100 Registration fee includes:
  • lunch for sessions 1 and 3 
  • Embedding Formative Assessment by William & Siobhan Leahy, 2005
Optional graduate credit available

*Session 2 Fall 2021 VIRTUAL 1 hour session from 4:00 - 5:00p
*Session 3 Spring 2022 face-to-face 6 hour session held at regional site (lunch provided)
*Session 4 Spring 2022 VIRTUAL 1 hour session from 4:00 - 5:00p
