A small amount of state-supplied flu vaccine is available to order:

FluLaval; Pre-Filled Syringe; NDC 19515-0818-52
Fluzone; Pre-Filled Syringe; NDC 49281-0421-50
Fluzone; Single-dose vial; NDC 49281-0421-10

State-supplied flu vaccine can only be ordered using the ‘Vaccines’ section in the MIIS. To order flu in the MIIS, hover over ‘VACCINE,’ select ‘Flu/COVID-19 Vaccine,’ then select ‘Submit Flu/COVID-19 Order’. For further instructions, review the New Flu Order - Mini Guide if providers need assistance with ordering.

As quantities of flu vaccines are limited, only order the vaccine you will administer within the next two weeks. Consider the following:
  •  Flu vaccine orders can be placed as often as necessary. Flu vaccine orders are considered a priority and may be shipped out quicker than routine vaccine orders.
  • Ensure there is enough space in the refrigerator to store the doses of flu vaccine ordered. Overfilling storage units can cause temperature excursions, which can lead to vaccine loss and result in restitution.

If your site was not allocated the currently available vaccine formulation and a small amount of flu vaccine is needed, the Vaccine Unit will allow an order of any available state-supplied flu vaccine formulation. When placing a flu vaccine order, select "add Vaccine" to order the available vaccine that was not allocated. Additional emails will be sent as more vaccine becomes available.

The Vaccine Unit will do its best to fill all flu vaccine order requests, but orders may be reduced or canceled due to vaccine availability.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Providers are required to report vaccines administered to the MIIS. Noncompliance may result in canceled orders.
  • Providers are also required to upload monthly temperature logs to ensure the vaccine cold chain has been maintained.

Please remember, the MDPH Immunization Division will not be automatically sending flu vaccines to provider sites.
