“When there is a need, there are no questions, only actions.”
Mohamad Fakih, Paramount Foods
I recently attended a session on the generosity of newcomers presented by the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Toronto Chapter. Three immigrants - Gina Cody, Raj Kothary, and Mohamad Fakih - talked about their reasons for giving and how they are making a difference in the communities in Canada that they call home. They also talked about how charitable organizations – from the board to the donors - can be more welcoming and inclusive of racialized individuals.
I was struck by the deep truth of the statement above and how it truly represented our experience of the last year.
There was a need. You took action.
Because of your kindness and your quick response, you made it possible for workers to meet the many diverse needs of children, youth, and families during the pandemic. The pandemic made many existing cracks even bigger – poverty, social isolation, precarious housing – and created new ones like a widespread and instantaneous need for technology and digital access.
We would be honoured if you would join us on
June 10th for our virtual Annual General Meeting so we can share the challenges and successes of the year that was as well as introduce our new strategic vision for the years ahead. You can find more details and register to attend at this link. Registration closes June 9th at midnight.
Your support has met the most pressing needs of the last 14 months. Now, we invite you to continued action as we build a caring, and equitable, community where children, youth, and families thrive.
With gratitude,
