AKG Newsworthy NOLA
2021 #4

It seems like ages have passed since I last wrote to
you only 2 weeks ago...

Mardi Gras happened in New Orleans, it was a surreal experience. This time last year, in February of 2020, Mardi Gras was a stage for the beginning of the spread of the coronavirus.

This year, respecting the Mayor's mandate, the French Quarter was closed to the masses who normally visit, it was eerily quiet. That was just 4 days ago and combining that with a bitter cold storm that swept most of the country, once again it felt like the world stopped.

We can always rely on the sun coming up, today the sun rose and with it came warmth, hope and promise. The misery and difficulties brought on by sub zero temperatures all over the country once again brought out the best in people.

Those that could, cared for others, those who had, shared with others, those who were able, brought people into their homes. We are a resilient beautiful species and we all get cold and hungry and bleed the same. May we continue to drop the barriers that keep us apart.

Oh happy day,
Love,

Angela
