LEAGUES GENERAL MANAGERS
BC Hockey has announced the AAA Program General Managers for the 2021-2022 season.

BC Hockey AAA Program General Managers oversee the operation of teams in the U18 AAA, U17 AAA and U15 AAA Leagues.

BC Hockey recently adjusted the U16 AAA program to move to a U17 AAA League. A link to FAQ's to the new program are located at the bottom of the release.
U18/U17/U15 AAA LEAGUES GENERAL MANAGERS
CARIBOO COUGARS
TREVOR SPRAGUE (15th season)

Trevor has been involved in hockey in BC for more than twenty years, coaching in every level from U9 to the Western Hockey League (WHL). Trevor began his work with the Cariboo Cougars U18 program in their inaugural season of 2004, and now holds the position of General Manager of the six high performance teams located in Prince George that represent Northern BC. He is passionate about developing young athletes and providing all players with the opportunities they need for success.

Sprague said: “I am looking forward to the season ahead. We’ve learned a lot about our organization and the dedication of our players over this past year; we know in many ways it’s made us stronger and we’re grateful for that. We can’t wait to get back to competitive hockey.”
FRASER VALLEY THUNDERBIRDS
DARRIN PONAK (9th season)

Darren has been an educator in the Langley School District for the past 32 years, and has developed strong ties in the community.

As a former Board of Director of the Abbotsford Minor Hockey Association (MHA), Darrin also has fostered valuable relationships in this community and with the Abbotsford Centre, home of the Thunderbirds.

In 2017-2018 the Thunderbirds won its first BC Hockey championship. Darrin is eager to continue working with and building the Thunderbird organization in pursuit of another.
GREATER VANCOUVER CANADIANS
PHIL ALALOUF (7th season)

Like many fathers, Phil’s coaching career began nearly 20 years ago where he could be found on a daily basis at the rink with his two boys in Vancouver.

As they both progressed through minor and junior hockey, so did his passion for coaching and mentoring. Alalouf spent 10 years in various positions with South Delta Minor Hockey Association, which included Director for coach & player development and President.

For the past seven years, he has taken on multiple roles, including Head Coach and General Manager of the Greater Vancouver Canadians program, inspiring both athletes and coaches to challenge their potential, maximize their performance, and fulfill their dreams. 
NORTH ISLAND SILVERTIPS
BEN WALTER (2nd season)

Ben grew up in South Surrey, BC and played for Semiahmoo MHA. After playing two years in the BCHL and three years of NCAA hockey, Ben went on the play 13 years professionally in the NHL, AHL and Europe. Since retiring from playing, Ben has been involved with the North Island Silvertips program for three seasons, and has recently completed his degree, earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. 
 
“I am very happy to be returning for my second season as GM of the Silvertips program. The BC Hockey AAA leagues are an important stepping stone for young players in BC as they look to continue their hockey careers and I am proud to be a part of that," says Walter. "I will continue to make player development the number one priority of the Silvertips program and give our players the resources they need to develop, prepare, and advance to the next level.” 
OKANAGAN ROCKETS
DAVE DUPAS (2nd season)

Dave Dupas grew up in Burnaby and played minor hockey at Burnaby Winter Club. Following minor hockey, he went on to play junior hockey in New Westminster for the Royals followed by playing at Northern Arizona University. Dave has coached In the BCHL and AJHL as well as various levels of minor hockey.

Dupas says: "I am excited to be a part of the BC Hockey AAA program this season and look forward to working with great young players and coaches. This level gives them an opportunity to compete against the best competition in the province."
SOUTH ISLAND ROYALS
JOHANN CHERRY (3rd season)

Johann Cherry was born and raised in Victoria. He completed both his Bachelor of Education and Master of Education degrees at the University of Victoria. Johann has a diverse background in multiple sports at the elite level. This will be Johann's third year as General Manager of the South Island Royals. He is also a teacher and Program Director of the Spectrum School Hockey Skills Academy. 

Johann has a passion for the development of youth athletes, as well as good citizens that contribute to a positive society. He is excited about the direction that both BC Hockey and the South Island Royals AAA Zone program is moving. He looks forward to continuing to build the program while providing opportunities for local youth through the sport of hockey.  
THOMPSON BLAZERS
JAN ANTONS (co-GM) (3rd season)

Jan Antons resides in Kamloops and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary. He has a passion for sports and has been involved in sports for many years.

Prior to taking on the role of co-General Manager for the Thompson Blazers, Jan has worked for the Calgary Flames and Hockey Canada. Jan was the Equipment Manager of Canada's National Sledge Hockey Team and attended the 2013 IPC World Championship in Seoul, South Korea and the 2014 Paralympic Games in Sochi, Russia..
THOMPSON BLAZERS
STU McGREGOR (co-GM) (3rd season)

Stu first joined the Thompson Blazers in January 2019, and splits the General Mangers duties in the Thompson Zone with Jan Antons

Stu has extensive experience in hockey with over 40 years spent in the WHL and NHL in the management and scouting evaluation areas. Stu continues to assist players and coaches reach their goals in hockey.

“I look forward to working hard and providing a quality place for players to develop and play in a highly competitive hockey environment," says McGregor. "Being able to see players develop and move onto higher levels of hockey and further their future hockey goals, is very important to me. The Thompson Blazers Regional Hockey Program is an important development phase for an aspiring young player.“
VALLEY WEST GIANTS
JAMIE FISET (4th season)

Fiset has been involved with BC Hockey’s Program of Excellence for over a decade in a variety of roles. In addition to his duties with Valley West, he has been part of the mentorship group at the HP1 course for the past 4 years.

Before joining Valley West, he was General Manager and Coach of the Ridge Meadows Flames of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL), and was the lead instructor of the Langley Secondary School Hockey Canada Skills Academy.

Fiset adds: “Our staff is excited to be back for another season. We are committed to providing a quality developmental program for our players and families. We are also grateful for the support that we have received from our MHA partners. As we head into the 2021-2022 season, we will continue to develop and promote our players.”
VANCOUVER NORTH EAST CHIEFS
GREG HARDING (5th season)

Greg played minor hockey at Burnaby Winter Club and with Langley MHA. He also played four years of junior hockey. Following his hockey playing career, Greg coached with the PJHL's Richmond Sockeyes for eight years before joining the Chiefs program in 2017.

He spent two years as assistant Coach before taking over as General Manager in 2019-2020. This year will be his third year as General Manager and fifth overall with the program.

Harding says: "I am very excited to continue to grow the program into an elite AAA program with the help of our team staff. I am eager to watch our players continue their growth and reach their goals in hockey, education and life." 
VANCOUVER NORTH WEST HAWKS
CHRIS SHAW (4th season)

In 2009, Chris began his coaching career as an Assistant Coach with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs (BCHL) and the Penticton Lakers of the Kootenay International Hockey League (KIJHL) before moving on to a Head Coach and General Manager position with the Nelson Leafs (KIJHL).

After a year as an Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager with the Vernon Vipers (BCHL) in 2011, he took over the reigns as Head Coach and General Manager of the Ontario, California Avalanche for four seasons. Chris spent two years as the Associate Head Coach of the Langley Rivermen (BCHL).

“I’m very excited and motivated to be back for my fourth season with BC Hockey and the North West Hawks program for the 2021-2022 season," says Shaw. "The North West Zone has a long tradition of developing athletes on and off the ice and I look forward to providing our entire zone with support and development from grassroots and up.”
