CTSI Update: Announcements
The overarching goal of the BU CTSI Pilot Grant Program is to help investigators explore and solve major challenges in translational science, especially those that address the special health problems of our urban communities, by developing and deploying new tools, methods, and processes to expedite clinical and translational research and discovery.
Christine Odom, Ph.D., candidate at the Quinton lab. (BUSM). She was awarded a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) F31 Individual Predoctoral Fellowship Award from National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Ms. Odom is studying the liver-lung axis, specifically determining how liver activity impacts the lung immune landscape to limit pneumonia susceptibility by using a murine model with a diminished acute phase response due to a lack of hepatocyte STAT3 expression.  The purpose of this initiative is to demonstrate whether existing local data intermediaries can facilitate community stakeholder access to and utilization of integrated community-level data and increase community stakeholder skill and capacity to use and apply data to address health disparities among racial and ethnic minority populations.
