A Message from the Board of Directors
The challenges over the past year have changed how we all go about our daily lives and conduct business. It has been especially challenging for our first responders dealing with COVID-19 coupled with continued intense scrutiny of law enforcement on both the local and national level. In such an environment, the need for motivated, caring, competent law enforcement officers is absolutely critical. This is where the role of the Baltimore County Police Foundation comes into play.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, plans for the Foundation's 40th Annual Awards Program were well underway - engraved awards were purchased, video interviews were taped and being edited, and gifts were purchased. Unfortunately, after several delays, we were forced to postpone our event until 2021. As a small gesture of our appreciation, the cash awards were distributed to the 26 award recipients in advance. We are thankful to the companies who made sponsorship commitments in 2020. Those funds helped cover these expenditures.
The Department's needs were very different in 2020 as travel and training opportunities were limited, so we turned our focus to making sure the Department members knew they were appreciated. Care packages were distributed in April and December to over 31 Police Department locations, and delivered meals were provided to several department members who were quarantined. We look forward to making up for lost opportunities once the pandemic is behind us!
The Foundation is excited to begin planning for the 2021 Annual Awards Program which will allow us to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this outstanding event, recognizing both the 2020 and 2021 award recipients. It will be a grand celebration!
We invite you to partner with us in support of the Baltimore County Police Department by becoming a sponsor at the 2021 Annual Awards Dinner & Program which is scheduled for Monday, October 4, 2021.
Your participation is critical to our ability to continue providing vitally needed resources to the Baltimore County Police Department. Please take a moment to pledge your support today.
