Dear Sweet Adelines Member,

Over the last several months, you have worked so diligently to keep up your vocal skills, your musical bonds, and the spirits of your communities during the pandemic. The International Board continues to monitor the global situation related to the pandemic with the health and safety of our members, as always, at the forefront of our minds.

With so much uncertainty still surrounding the pandemic, the rollout of the vaccine, and its attendant precautions and travel restrictions, the International Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Rising Star Quartet Contest and delay the inaugural Diamond Division Quartet Contest, which were scheduled to occur during the Coronet Club’s Queens’ College. Out of deep concern for the safety of the membership and event attendees, the Coronet Club has made the difficult decision to postpone Queens’ College until 2023.

We will, of course, continue to offer virtual education through the Sweet Adelines International Education Portal on the organization’s website, and other projects are in the works that we hope will be inspiring and fun. Among them is Travel in Tune, an interactive educational app that will allow members to experience educational offerings and connect with regions from across the world. More information will be released on these exciting virtual events in the coming weeks!

We realize that yet another cancellation is disappointing and disheartening. We ask you to continue to care for each other and for your communities as you have been all through this difficult time. We join you in looking forward in hope to the day – and it will come – when we can gather in person again for the hugs, the harmonies, and the unique experience that is Sweet Adelines. We are here to help you in whatever way we can, and we look forward to being with you again, whether virtually or in-person.

Stay Sweet Adelines Strong.

Sincerely,
Joan Boutilier
International President
