Team ACCG is Working to Meet Members’ Needs

The team at ACCG is working tirelessly to meet our members’ needs regarding Lifelong Learning Academy (LLA) class and hotel accommodation availability for the County Reconnect Conference. Please know that member satisfaction is priority to us, as we pride ourselves on being a member-driven and member-focused organization. That said, we are optimistic about forthcoming solutions to these challenges and encourage every county official who desires to attend the conference to work with their clerk/registrar to please register by October 1, 2021, to ensure your information is in the system. As we are still working out the solution to LLA class availability, please select No class Friday or Monday (depending on your preference) and sign up for the LLA class waitlist by clicking here.

Concurrent Sessions Focus on Hot Topics: Cybersecurity and Broadband

Why should Cyber Security be a Top Priority for your County?

With the increased occurrence and cost of cyberattacks on local governments, it is more important than ever for county leaders to prioritize cybersecurity solutions to protect their critical systems. Counties are responsible for protecting highly sensitive personal information and for providing important services to their constituents. Cyberattacks have been and can be detrimental to county operations and reputations. In this session, leaders will be encouraged to work together with their IT department and cybersecurity experts to execute a successful cybersecurity plan to protect against risks such as ransomware attacks, data breaches, and social engineering schemes. With the proper security precautions, policies and procedures, and training, such risks can be greatly reduced. Leaders will also be alerted to the value of an effective incident response plan, which helps counties better respond to a cyber incident in the event one occurs.

We Want to Hear from You – Submit Your Questions for the Broadband Concurrent Session

Broadband is a multi-faceted issue that impacts a vast majority, if not all, of Georgia’s counties. From how to leverage funding and build public-private partnerships, to the many additional tools and resources available to counties and deployment itself, this complex issue has been a major part of legislative and policy discourse in recent years. Our panelists want to hear from you, ACCG’s members, in advance regarding what specific questions you have so that they can best meet your needs during this concurrent session. With much to cover, they want to make the best use of your time and provide the information you most need to be successful! Please submit your questions to ACCG County Consulting Services Associate Mary Beth Brownlee at mbbrownlee@accg.org by Monday, November 1.
