Carl and Marie Cochrane are some of the Foundation's longest standing donors. The couple established the Marie and Carl L. Cochrane Endowed Scholarship in 1999. The couple's relationship with the College began in the 1970's when Marie started working part-time at the College. She went on to become a full-time Math instructor in 1989. Carl also taught at the College in the evenings from 1977-1989, and then began working as a Math adjunct instructor in 1989. Both retired from A-B Tech in 2000 and remain dedicated friends of the College.
During her time at A-B Tech, Marie had a passion for not only teaching students, but saw the many hardships that students endured while going to school and working. Many were often having problems when it came time to pay for tuition and books. This led her to the decision to establish a scholarship once she retired.
“Education is important. There are people trying to go to school and they need just a little bit of help," says Carl.
To date, the Foundation has awarded over $14,000 to deserving students from the Marie and Carl L. Endowed scholarship since its inception.
