Check out what is new at the Medical Foundation of Nashville
MFN Winter Newsletter
Take a look at the 2020 MFN Annual Report.
It is not unusual for a patient to mention the medical need of a family member to Project Access Nashville Specialty Care (PANSC) care coordinators and ask for help, but it is unusual to have three adult sisters all as patients.
Louisa has been a patient since 2015 and told her sisters about PANSC because of the care coordinated through our program. Through PANSC, she had eye surgery, and was able to return to caring for her three grandchildren. Maya was the second of the sisters to enroll in PANSC and has four specialists who help her manage a chronic condition. With the help of PANSC, she has learned to navigate the healthcare system and is very on top of her care. Angie, the third sister to enroll, is now undergoing treatment for cancer with the support of three specialists. All three sisters have needed support from PANSC care coordinators who helped them access community resources to support non-medical, health-related needs and support her health.
We asked Louisa what she wanted people to know about PANSC. She and her sisters say PANSC makes it easy for their family because of how we support them. Louisa wanted her gratitude communicated. She’s thankful for our program, our volunteer physicians, our partners, and our staff for how they all help her and her sisters pursue improved health.
Please meet our MFN Board Chair, Ralph Atkinson III, MD. He practices with Nephrology Associates and is also a long time Project Access Nashville Specialty Care Volunteer. When speaking about his volunteer service recently, Dr. Atkinson said “It’s a joy to see those patients. They really need help and are grateful for all you do.”
During 2020, Project Access Nashville Specialty Care is proud to have set three new record highs for program achievement.
PANSC filled 590 specialty care referrals by connecting patients with a volunteer physician.
A record 227 new physician specialists signed up to volunteer with PANSC.
PANSC staff worked with volunteer physicians and hospital and ancillary partners to coordinate $4.58M in care donated by these physicians and partners.
Project Access Nashville Specialty Care cannot serve patients without the participation of our volunteers! While we do currently have limits on non-clinical volunteers in our office, if you are a physician specialist and would like to volunteer to see PANSC patients in your practice, you can learn more here.
