If it is your first time to the Hunt Horse Complex, you might want to take a look at this aerial map of the facility so you are familiar with the location of the barns, rings and entrance gate and stall and show offices.

Parking & Safety at the Horse Complex
|
PLEASE REMEMBER: No trailers or campers will be allowed to park and set up next to the barns. With campers/trailers parked next to the barns, there is not enough access for emergency vehicles to pass unobstructed in the event of an emergency. This is a violation of fire code. There are no changes to open trailer/ camper parking. Thank you for your cooperation as the NC State Fair-grounds implements this new plan for the safety of all.
Please be mindful of securing all valuables during the show. At various shows throughout the year, there have been instances of theft occurring from the stall area. Thieves have even stolen items from cars that they were able to unlock by finding keys lying around stalls. If your group is going to leave your stall area for any length of time, please lock up your items in tack stalls. Better safe than sorry!

Hunt Horse Complex Rules- Be Sure to Review
|
- Horses should stay within the arenas, barns, rings, and pads. Horses are not allowed in the paved parking lot or in the RV park.
- Washing or bathing of horses is to be done in designated wash areas only, located inside Barn B or outside between Barn B and middle ring.
- No overnight horses may be stabled in trailers or tied out.
- Horses are not allowed to be tied or led by any moving vehicle.
- Smoking and the use of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes or vaping) are prohibited in the main arena, dining and office areas, and all barns.
-
No nails, screws, staples, or fixtures may be installed in any building including stalls and door frames (to hang stall guards). Eye hooks may be placed in two existing holes in a stall to hang water and feed buckets. Eye hooks must be removed when you leave. If a stall that is assigned to you is assessed damaged fees by the facility, you will be billed for those fees.
-
Skateboards, in-line skates, scooters, and hoverboards may not be used anywhere on the grounds. Due to past safety issues, BIKES are not permitted at the NC State 4-H Horse Show.
- The use of drones or unmanned aircraft/vehicles is prohibited on all State Fair property including HHC.
-
The speed limit may not exceed 5 mph in the horse complex and caution should be taken when driving near people and animals. Every motorized or electric vehicle operator must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
- No power strips may be used in any HHC receptacle. In addition, all extension cords utilized must be grounded (3-prong) type. Improper cords pose a danger and may be confiscated.
- No cooking or open flames are allowed in the barn areas; this includes grills (gas or charcoal), deep fryers, and smokers. A crockpot is allowed, but it must be directly plugged into a wall outlet, equipped with a tip-over safety switch, and used only within the walkways, not in the stalls or near combustible materials.

Know Before You Show- COVID-19 Guidelines (updated from Operating Procedures Guide)
- Face coverings are not required at this event, but we do recommend face coverings while indoors or in crowded areas.
- Social distancing requirements have been lifted, but we will still be putting the following measures in place to help minimize congested areas:
- Only one support person per rider will be allowed at the entry gate and while schooling during designated schooling times.
- When visiting the show office or schooling sign-up, please limit the number of people from your group to avoid crowding and only have the essential people in those spaces.
- Follow the posted signage near the show office and in/out gates to help avoid crowding.
- We encourage exhibitors, volunteers, and spectators to be thoughtful about general good hygiene practices, such as frequent hand washing and staying home if they are feeling unwell. There will be a handwashing station in the food truck area of the grounds.

Opening Ceremonies
A special Opening Ceremony has been planned for Friday evening. The Opening Ceremony involves a parade in the main arena for 4-H'ers and Volunteer Leaders participating in the State 4-H Horse Show. The start time for opening ceremonies will be announced Friday afternoon, but will not begin before 5:00.
Please note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions and recommended guidelines, county delegations will have designated seating in the main arena and will not enter on foot. Please have all members, including friends and family, sit in your designated section number during opening ceremonies. County delegations will be recognized and asked to stand. Delegations are welcome to hang banners over the pipe railing behind their seats (where the section numbers hang). Other decorations are also allowed but show management may ask for some to be removed if they have the potential to block the view of other spectators or might spook horses in the arena.
Senior 4-H Horse Program Members who are aging out of 4-H (will turn 19 on or before 1/1/22) will receive a special lapel pin. Aging out 4-H members must be identified prior to the State 4-H Horse Show to be eligible for a lapel pin, and will be asked to walk into the main arena to be recognized. If you are eligible for this award, please submit your name on this form.
The Pleasure Pairs and Senior Versatility Class will be held approximately 15 minutes after the opening ceremony. If you are showing in Pleasure Pairs, BOTH MEMBERS OF THE PAIR MUST ENTER THE CLASS ON THE ENTRY FORM. A warm-up time will be provided in the covered arena for exhibitors entered in those classes.
