Visit NorthWestern’s Energy’s Madison Hydroelectric Project on the beautiful Madison River. See an early 1900s hydro project while the original turbine generators are being replaced by brand new state of the art turbine generators. This is a chance to see the 257-foot long, 38-foot high concrete embankment dam and the turn of the century powerhouse and learn how through collaboration with the resource agencies, NorthWestern operates to support one of the country’s best known blue ribbon trout streams. On the return trip, we will also visit O’Dell Spring Creek, the 2018 Restoration Project of the Year (Society for Ecological Restoration Northwest’s Chapter) where, through partnerships with the landowners, resource agencies, and NorthWestern Energy, 14 miles of stream and over 815 acres of wetlands have been restored.
