I was talking with a friend, and he was saying that he rides slower in the twisties than he used to. I told him I do the same now, and that I am lucky to be alive for the stupid speeds I used to go every time I came to a curve!
Most riders today don’t realize just how dangerous it is trying to ride todays incredibly powerful motorcycles fast in the twisties. There is no run off room, cars often come over the middle lines and medical attention is a long way away. Not to mention the dirt, rocks and liquids you will come across on the roads.
There is a wonderful solution! Go do a track day at one of the local racetracks. It costs a couple hundred dollars, but that is a fraction of what a crash will cost you. You will get expert instruction and learn how to use your motorcycle at speed. There are no cars, the track is clean, you will ride with a group that is at your level of expertise. Should you need it, medical attention is there to help you in minutes. You will have more fun than you can imagine!
A racetrack is the safest place you can ride while you discover your bike’s and your own limits! Priceless advice!
