Encourage Clients to Take Advantage of Enhanced ATPCs
Extended SEP ends August 15, 2021.
The SEP extension to further help consumers take advantage of Enhanced ATPCs, will be ending August 15, 2021.
 
Clients still have time to enroll in an Ambetter Marketplace plan to take advantage of the increased savings and lower costs made available by the American Rescue Plan (ARP).

It’s been estimated the number of those eligible for a subsidy on the Marketplace increased by 20% with the passage of the ARP.* Consumers’ required contributions are lowered at all income levels thereby increasing APTC. Individuals earning 100-150% FPL will be eligible for fully subsidized coverage. Additionally, premiums are capped at 8.5% of income for those above 400% FPL removing the “subsidy cliff.”

Google Ad Certification for ACA Advertising
Earlier this year Google announced a new certification program for health insurance advertisers to aid in curbing misinformation or fraud. This special certification will be required for ACA health insurers or third-party brokers who want to run Google Ads. Brokers will need to provide documentation showing they are permitted under state law to sell health insurance to run ads on Google. For more information please visit:

What tips would you offer a new broker interested in selling Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans?
  1. Know your plans from A to Z
  2. Get to learn information about your clients' personal needs such as why they need medical insurance, or what are the plans for next year such as family expansions, etc.
  3. Master HealthCare.gov platform
  4. Educate yourself on new changes coming up in tax and medical reforms

What do you like best about Ambetter plans? Ambetter has affordable price structures. The plans that are offered on the exchange and off have easy to understand deductibles and out of pocket expenses. Some of the plans have built in dental and vision coverages.

Ambetter has quite a large variety of hospitals and doctors.

What Ambetter plan features resonate best with your clients? i.e.- My Health Pays program, rates, network, etc.: Rates and network.

How do you generate new leads? Generally leads are generated by happy customers who will pass a good word and my info to their friends and families.

How do you ensure your clients make their binder payment? From the moment the policy is bound, I personally make sure the binder payment was processed and automatic payment plan feature is turned on with the client consent. Next day, I check the portal for the policy number and payment status. Also, the ID card is being sent to the client as soon as it becomes available.

What would you like to see more issuers do in the ACA market or add to the market for the next open enrollment season? Before open enrollment starts November 1st, we would like to be informed ahead of time of new changes so we can be fully prepared to discuss plans and pricing that's coming up on November 1st.
