9 People On Their Weirdest Mental Health Tips For Winter
Being on top of self-care during the winter months can seem like an uphill climb: eat your greens, get some sunlight, move around, make sure you don't spend all day hibernating in bed with Netflix and hot chocolate (even though a bit of that is great). But there are also some less conventional methods for boosting your mental health in the colder seasons of the year — and you may never have contemplated some of them.

Recovery Hero: Mateo Littlebird
Hello my name is Mateo Littlebird, and I have been in recovery for 6 years. During the last 6 years, the most meaningful accomplishment was finding my wife and starting my family. This was a long time dream of mine and I manifested it through focusing my energy on what I wanted and reimagining what I believed I deserved.

URGENT: Tell Congress - Don't Lower Alcohol Taxes
Congress is being relentlessly lobbied to lower alcohol taxes by extending the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act of 2019 (S. 362; H.R. 1175). It's a very bad idea. It will mostly benefit major alcohol producers - many of whom are foreign-owned - at the expense of the public and the government.

Start 2021 with a Recovery Coach
Looking for someone to support your recovery?

A Peer Recovery Coach works to remove barriers and obstacles to recovery by serving as a personal guide. Recovery Coaches enter into an ongoing relationship that helps people who are in recovery or who are considering recovery from substance use disorders to produce extraordinary results in their lives, careers, businesses, or organizations. Recovery Coaches are people in long term recovery.

Sick and Tired? Need hope?
Springs Recovery Connection’s CRAFT Support Program is for family members and friends concerned about someone close to them who lives with a substance use disorder. The Community Reinforcement and Family Training approach (CRAFT) is an evidence-based, compassionate, and effective approach for engaging a reluctant loved one into treatment. Family members learn strategies to take care of themselves while also increasing the motivation for positive change in their love ones.

The Profound Significance of RULE 62
(Don't take yourself so seriously!)
There are many reasons to love AA and 12-Step recovery. In its 85+ years of existence the program has saved hundreds of thousands of lives (including the life of this writer); it also transmits practical wisdom from the ‘school of hard knocks’- what is shared in the rooms of recovery as well as what is spoken of in the literature and from the mouth of sponsors is real hard-won experience- not theory or intellectual abstraction.
