News 7 story

Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 6 pm Athletics & Beyond will host an open house celebrating the opening of the Athletics & Beyond Family Wellness Center located at 4990 Nome Street, Unit C, Denver, CO (Montbello). This is an opportunity to share with local influencers and businesses to learn more about Athletics & Beyond and the programs provided for underserved youth in Montbello. The family center is an intergenerational community-led center that is available for the community.
The mission of Athletics & Beyond is to create opportunity through exposure. Since its inception, Athletics & Beyond has provided tutoring, athletic instruction, and life skills workshops for over 10,000 young adults in Montbello and surrounding communities.
  • 100% of young adults who participate in our mentoring programs graduate on time.
  • Since 2005 over 300 students have graduated from high school
  • Over 80% of them entered college and graduated
  • Over 30% of them earned master’s degrees
High-quality resident-led sports-specific clinics and life skills workshops are a gateway to academic achievement, better grades, improved chances of attending college, and success in the labor market. Affordable clinics are especially important for marginalized at-risk youth. These Children are higher achievers in terms of grades and dropout rates, as well as related measures of academic achievement such as homework completion, educational aspirations, and more. Sports-specific training provides detailed instructions for success in a controlled environment. Marginalized children rarely receive social & emotional support, national exposure, participate in regional combines, national tournaments, NCAA-sponsored clinics, and basic life skills workshops because of financial and geographic disadvantages. We find “Giving our children EXPOSURE to OPPORTUNITY” is vital to the success of our communities.
