BC Hockey is happily preparing for the return of the in-person Annual Congress taking place June 10-11, 2022 at the Penticton Lakeside Resort.

Registration for the event is now open!

We are looking forward to re-connecting with our membership and the many dedicated hockey people from around B.C. and Yukon.

FRIDAY - GUEST SPEAKER: Micah Zandee-Hart
Micah Zandee-Hart, Olympic gold medallist with the Canadian National Women's Hockey team, will be our special guest speaker on Friday Evening.

Zandee-Hart, from Saanichton, and alumna of Peninsula Minor Hockey and Okanagan Hockey Academy is the first ever player to represent B.C. on Canada's National Women's Team at the Olympics.
FRIDAY - KEYNOTE ADDRESS: Matt Symes
Matt Symes is the founder and creator of Symplicity Designs that helps organizations with change management and innovative thought processes focusing on the changing landscape of the customer. Matt developed a process-driven approach that could dramatically improve operations at not-for-profits.

Matt is willing to say what others won’t and lean into conflict to get the best out of everyone in the room. He focuses on the realities facing businesses, even when they’re uncomfortable, and offers practical advice and tools for improvement.
SATURDAY - SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Presidents Breakfast

Led by BC Hockey Chair of the Board Bill Greene and Chief Executive Officer Cameron Hope, BC Hockey will unveil the organization's updated strategic plan to BC Hockey member Presidents.
Seminars

Dispute Resolution: BC Hockey Ombudsperson Dr. Fowlie will present on mediation and how BC Hockey members can review and investigate disputes and maltreatment submissions. This seminar will focus on giving the tools to associations to conduct affective dispute resolution.

Indigenous Cultural Safety: Workshop developed by the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I·SPARC) on building sustainable relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations and many other key items regarding Indigenous Cultural Safety.

Maltreatment: An opportunity to review resources, best-practices and findings from the initial role out of Hockey Canada’s maltreatment initiative. This seminar will provide BC Hockey stakeholders to be part of the discussion about our commitment to changing the culture of the game and fostering an approach of inclusivity, diversity and providing strategies on how to deal with incidents of maltreatment within your area of membership. 

Officiating: An opportunity to join members of BC Hockey’s officiating leadership team to discuss new resources, strategies and initiatives that will assist your local association’s officiating development program and like-minded setting of grass roots developers.

Communications: This seminar will focus on the importance for BC Hockey members to develop their social media content and how to maximize exposure for your organization while mitigating risk.

Female Development: “Beyond the Barriers” Throughout the seminar we will focus on how we can progress female hockey beyond what that current issues are. We have identified the concerns in female hockey, now let’s focus on creating opportunities for our female players, coaches and officials. Through this interactive seminar with your Female Zone Leads we will work through a number of scenarios to map out a critical path and some events for female hockey in your Districts. 
Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The AGM is the business portion of the Annual Congress where the elections for the Board of Directors occurs along with voting on resolutions (bylaws and regulations).
Awards Gala

The Awards Gala dinner is the annual recognition of excellence and achievement among BC Hockey members takes place in this formal evening event which caps off BC Hockey's Annual Congress.
