2022 GLA Missions Conference
Fundraising Project Goal: $25,000
Project Biyaya - Claire Marker: Millions of Filipinos are experiencing deep hunger, both physical and spiritual. To help meet both needs, the Bicol Center for Christian Leadership launched Project Biyaya last July. (In Bicolano, biyaya means “blessing.”) Funds will be used to support Project Biyaya which is helping to provide up to one hundred warm meal packs at every outreach event. Each meal pack also contains a Gospel tract to serve as a tool to help the local BCCL students in their evangelism efforts.
Kairos Brazil Scholarship Program - Brandon & Marci Jones and Lyndell Campbell Requia: Kairos is a program developed by Sioux Falls Seminary (USA). These courses were adapted and translated to form Kairos Brasil. Upon completing the course, Master of Divinity and Master of Theology students receive a degree from Sioux Falls Seminary. Kairos is a discipleship journey. A seminary degree is the expected result of that journey, but the journey itself is part of the destination. Rather than each student progressing through the same pre-packaged course of academic studies, Kairos caters to their unique context and calling. Funds will be used to subsidize the costs of the Kairos Project for Brazilian students and pastors in partnership with the Rio Grande do Sul Baptist Theological Seminary.
Cameroon Pathology Training Fund - Debbie & Rick Bardin:
One piece of the ongoing ministry at Mbingo is the pathology program that processes thousands of specimens annually. Dr. Mbanga Evans is currently being trained in a Pathology residency program at the University of Nairobi. After finishing the residency, he is to join Dr. Richard Bardin in providing Pathology service at Mbingo Baptist Hospital. He will be the first qualified Cameroonian pathologist to serve at any Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) health facility. The CBC Health Board staffs 6 hospitals in Cameroon, so the need for qualified pathologists is unlimited. This fund will assist in the training of the pathologist. Having a pathologist on the Mbingo campus gives the hospital the ability to perform lab work on-site, providing quality, and timely test results for patient care.
