Join us at Boston University on March 11 and 12 as we strengthen our core teaching practicies! On Friday and Satruday, L.J. Randolph, a Spanish professor from the Univesity of North Carolina, will be guiding us through ways to incorporate social justice into our couses and lessons. Also on Friday, Rebecca Blouwolff, 2020 ACTFL Teacher of the Year, and Nicole Sherf, Spanish professor at Salem State University, will do a deep dive into the new Massachusetts World Language Curriculum Framework.

This in-person professional development will take place from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. each day and include breakfast, lunch, and facilitated breakout groups.

Join us in an asynchronous series of modules with an optional meetup May 13-26 to learn more about the ACTFL proficiency levels and the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI). Modified from the traditional in-peron workshop, this workshop will suppport your understanding of your students' proficiency levels through ACTFL staff presentations and OPI samples. Proficiency Academy is back in person for 2022! Come join us to learn about teaching for proficiency and advance your skills in proficiency-based instruction. Our 4-day academy is an immersive and collaborative learning experience. We offer two strands to meet your needs: 1) Foundations of Proficiency, led by Greg Duncan, and 2) Principles of Proficiency: Proficiency for ALL Learners, led by Leslie Grahn. Each strand includes high-quality workshops and facilitated break-out session where you can collaborate with colleagues to develop your own proficiency-based materials to bring back to your district. This is a 3-day Immersion Institute for teachers of French and Spanish. A maximum of 30 Content PDPs will be awarded. Participants may also earn 2 Graduate Credits from Westfield State University for an additional fee and completion of a written assignment. MaFLA members may choose to attend all 3 days or 1 or 2 days. MaFLA members who have native or new-native fluency in French or Spanish are invited to send a session proposal to Joyce Beckwith by April 1, 2022.
