National Teams
The Classic Open National Championship is the official qualifier for the IPF Classic Open World Championship and the NAPF Classic Open Regional Championship. THIS YEAR, the IPF Worlds will be in Sun City, South Africa, from June 6th through Saturday, June 11th. The NAPF Regional Championship will be in Panama City, Panama, from Monday, August 15th through Wednesday, August 17th.

To be nominated for any National Team, the IPF and NAPF require athletes and coaches to complete the Anti-Doping Education & Learning (ADEL) course. You will need to create an account at https://adel.wada-ama.org/learn. Once the course is completed, you will need to upload your certificate at https://form.jotform.com/PowerliftingAmerica/ADEL. If you have previously completed this course after 1/1/2021, you may upload the certificate you have obtained. Once uploaded, your certificate will be in our system, and you won’t need to do this again until there is a new course. Again this is mandatory for any lifter wishing to compete internationally. It is strongly encouraged that you complete this before nationals to have a smooth transition to one of our National Teams.
Selection Criteria for IPF Open Classic Worlds
The National Team for IPF Classic Open World Championship consists of 8 Women and 8 Men with an additional five reserves Men and Women. These nominations need to be submitted to the IPF by April 6th! So if you want to be part of this team, please complete your ADEL training ahead of Nationals. Final Nominations can activate the reserves on May 16th if one of the eight-team members cannot compete at the World Championship.

  1. To make the team automatically, you must win your weight class at Classic Open Nationals and achieve a minimum of a 5.0 on the Carpino Formula. This means your total from Nationals would average 5th place over the past 3 Classic Open Worlds Championships.
  2. If you win Classic Open Nationals and score above 5.0 on the Carpino Formula, your name and Carpino Score are added to the alternate pool for the National Team. The Alternate Pool also consists of all lifters who compete at Classic Open Nationals who did not win their weight class.
