Starting January 1, 2022, all newly-hired South Carolina employees are required to complete the 2022 SC W-4 and the 2022 federal W-4.

Check out our Batch Withholding Program
If you file 10 or more South Carolina Withholding returns in a quarter, consider using our Batch Withholding Program to quickly and easily file returns electronically. In one file, you can report the information normally submitted on the WH-1605 or WH-1606 for multiple clients.

Our Batch Withholding Program is the easiest way to comply with the electronic mandate for tax preparers, which requires you to file electronically if you file 100 or more returns per year. Even if you're not required to file online, it's the most efficient option. Why?
  • You can submit one file for multiple clients
  • You can include both original and amended returns in one submission
  • We receive your return almost instantly and immediately initiate processing
  • After submitting your batch return file, you’ll receive email notifications alerting you that it has been accepted, or that it contained errors

Withholding Reminders
  • The W-2 and 1099 that the employer provides to the SCDOR, IRS, and/or Social Security Administration must have the full SSN, FEIN, or ITIN.
  • 4th Quarter Withholding Returns (Oct-Nov-Dec 2021) are due January 31, 2022.
  • Businesses are required to submit W-2s to the SCDOR by January 31, 2022. The SCDOR recommends that you upload W-2s through MyDORWAY — it's fast and easy. If you are required to submit W-2s electronically to the Social Security Administration, you're required to use MyDORWAY to submit W-2s to the SCDOR.
In 2017, South Carolina updated Withholding Tax Tables for the first time in 25 years. The SCDOR provides updated Withholding Tax Tables annually. Visit dor.sc.gov/withholding for more information on modernizing South Carolina Withholding.
