Summer Camp 2022 March Newsletter

Dear unit leaders and summer camp coordinators,

Believe it or not, spring comes to us this Sunday, and we are approaching the deadline for the tier 2 discounted rate of $450 per camper. For your convenience, the payment transmittal form is available (click here) on our website.

We are again planning to hold our leaders meeting via a virtual webinar on Saturday, May 7th. While it is not my favorite format to present, it was far more convenient for our geographically dispersed leaders. Keep a look out in mid-April for an invitation to register for the event.

Our camp program director, Charley Kinsky, recently got back from the Summit after attending the BSA professional commissioning class. We congratulate Charley on his commissioning. Outside of summer camp, Charley works in field services on Cub Scout recruiting. Now that he is back in the office, he is working to update the leaders’ guide by the end of the month. Keep an eye on the forms & resources page of our website for an update (click here).

This past weekend, we closed the camp to hold a celebration of the wedding of our camp ranger, Josh Kuhns, to our food service director, Jessica Stugart – a match made at OSR. Being the ranger, poor Josh had to plow the parking lot and road for his own wedding. I hope to be able to share a photo with you on our social media page shortly. No time for a honeymoon, it was back to work for both. Jessica will be working on updating the menu for 2022. We are planning for normal family-style dining hall service.

As with the broader economy, we too are working to fill all our open positions. We have openings in various areas for both youth and adults. If you know of someone who might be interested in working at camp, please reach out to Charley (charles.kinsky@scouting.org) or me (todd.warner@scouting.org).

With regards,

Todd Warner
