“But He knows the way that I take; when he
has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”
One of my gifts for Mother’s Day was my second positive test for Covid-19 in six months. Many of you or your families faced this same test. Focusing on God’s promise to “come forth as gold” is challenging when our way encounters symptoms and stresses.
As we continue to walk with Job in verses 11-12, he shares his testing action plan.
“My feet have closely followed His steps:
I have not departed from the commands of His lips;
I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily bread.”
This declaration of Job’s faith is his action plan for discipleship and obedience. He believed God knew his life challenges and the wise steps to choose whether he felt God’s presence or perceived His way.
Job chooses to focus on three aspects of his God instead of being distracted by difficult circumstances and judgmental friends.
- As God’s Steps provide the path, follow closely.
- As God’s Lips provide commands, choose to obey.
- As God’s Mouth speaks words of soul nourishment, treasure them.
Lord, guide us toward your steps, listen to your lips, and treasure the words of your mouth each day on our way.
