2022 Vestry Nominees
AKINTUNDE (AKIN) OWOSINA was born and raised in Nigeria and grew up a member of the Anglican Church. In 1985, he graduated from Lagos State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He came to the United States in 1990 to attend graduate school at Utah State University where he earned his Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. After graduation he moved to Florida and has worked in Florida since 1992. He has worked at the South Florida Water Management District for over 20 years as a professional engineer and modeler and has had the opportunity to have an impact on key water resources and environmental efforts in south Florida including Everglades Restoration. Akin is a resident of Jupiter Farms, is married to his wife, Elizabeth, and has four children, Sam, Grace, Sarah, and Alex. The family has attended Good Shepherd for over 15 years and Akin currently helps with Sunday school. He spends an inordinate amount of time in the garden and loves grafting and growing tropical fruit trees.

IAN ANDERSON was born in Canada and was confirmed as an Anglican while attending boarding school for seven years. Professionally, Ian is trained as a physicist, specializing in the analysis of matter using electron beams. He worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee, where he met his wife Letty while singing in the church choir, and at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Maryland, prior to moving to Florida. Ian is a Fellow of the Microscopy Society of America, and served as its President during its 75th anniversary in 2017. Ian and Letty have been active in the Episcopal Church their entire adult lives and members of Good Shepherd for the past five years. Ian served on staff as Interim Youth Director from 2017-2019, and Letty is currently (2019-present) on the church staff as part-time Business Manager. Since leaving the staff, Ian has continued to serve as a volunteer with the youth, teaching the Confirmation Class during 2020-2021 and cooking dinner with them for Youth Group gatherings. Before COVID, he was a member of the choir and sang in the Communion quartet, and since has sung in the small ensemble for Sunday services. He worked with Fr. Doug to establish live weekday Morning Prayer broadcasts, which he has coordinated for the past year and a half. He also works behind the scenes on Good Shepherd’s communications via web posting and e-mail blasts.

CAROL TAYLOR BLOCK joined Good Shepherd in 1988 and served on the Vestry twice. She was a Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School Teacher, delivered for Meals on Wheels, Worked on the Millennium Development Goal Campaign and is a Eucharistic Minister. In 2000 she relocated to Tallahassee, FL for about 10 years but returned to Good Shepherd in 2010. She is the mother of 5 children and 1 new grandchild. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida and a Degree in Funeral Services from St. Petersburg College. She is the President of her family owned business, Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, that was established in 1909 and has partnered with Good Shepherd for many years as an event sponsor of Artie’s Party. Carol lives in Tequesta with her daughter Anna, a proud volunteer at Pennies for Heaven.

GEORGE L. HINES has been a member of Good Shepherd with his wife Lisa since 2002. He currently serves as the CEO and founder of George’s Music Inc. and George’s Music of Fla. Inc., established in 1977 near Philadelphia. Currently there are seven locations in Pennsylvania and Florida. In 1998 he established and is the managing partner of “The Alliance of Independent Music Merchants LLC (AIMM), which is an alliance of the top independent music retail stores in the US. He also established a real estate management company that handles commercial retail properties. He was previously a part of the vestry for Salem Lutheran Church in Orlando where he assisted with the renegotiation of the church’s mortgage and other pressing issues of the time. George is also currently the Chair of the Tiger 21 Palm Beach, an entrepreneurial group in South Florida. He currently lives in Jupiter Inlet Colony with his wife Lisa and two dogs Enzo and Lambo. Mr. Hines holds a bachelor’s degree from Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania where he graduated with honors in History. He has spent time in Japan and abroad. In his spare time he enjoys playing music, reading non-fiction business books, cars, and speaking engagements.

BRAD DAVIS has been a member of Good Shepherd for the past 5 years. He and his wife, Courtney, grew up in Jupiter and moved back after leaving for college and spending ten years in Atlanta. When they returned to Jupiter after Jack (age 6) was born, they looked for a church community and found Good Shepherd. Two years after moving back to Jupiter, Lucy (now age 3), was born. As a family, they have experienced all the young parent aspects of the church. The kids have attended Sunday School and Brad has taught Sunday School class for the past four years. Courtney now volunteers at the food pantry and serves on the Community Outreach committee. The kids attend summer camp and Lucy attends the pre-school at the Good Shepherd School. After graduating from Georgia Tech with a Master’s in City Planning, Brad has been a city planning consultant. He currently works for Kimley- Horn and leads their Florida community design and electric vehicle practice.
