First, Happy Fourth of July to everyone in the United States!
I am due to meet my mechanic in a little while. I am worried that a number of things are pointing to larger engine issues than just the high pressure fuel pump. I anticipate being here this week and next. I do have a good mechanic and have also got a good diesel engine machine/rebuild shop available as well.
Anyway, I thought I would get an email off early this morning. I have mentioned before how beautiful and intriguing the main harbor of St. John's is, at every time of day. Carl, Greg and I walked the waterfront numerous times, just watching the bustle of activity. Tugboats like the one shown above, container ships, cruise ships, and the always moving vessels that ferry supplies and equipment out to the drilling platforms that surround the island. St. John's is known as the "Gateway to the Grand Banks" in part for the fisheries and in part for the drilling. I think there are currently 100 to 150 rigs around the island. Those supply vessels are built to keep doing their work, no matter the weather. Watching carefully amidst the activity one can also see pilot boat heading out and coming alongside to place her pilot aboard and inbound vessel or take the pilot off an outbound vessel.
I have assembled three short time lapse video clips I took and put them in one short movie, a little over a minute in length. You can view it by
clicking here. It is fairly high resolution, so, if you want, view it in full screen mode. It will give you a sense of St. John's Harbour.
