2045 Saturday August 13
Yay! Finally, Tazzarin is on her way again. Annie and I spent a chunk of the day cleaning up grease and oil from all the heavy engine work that has gone on. We still have a lot of stowing of gear and supplies to do. Everything had to be moved out of lockers during the extended engine work. Annie also did some provisioning for our short cruise together. Around 1530 we left the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club for the first time since arriving back on June 26th. Whew. We passed through the long channel of Long Pond and into Conception Bay. The northerly breeze was fair to make the 12 mile run across the bay to Brigus and the sun was shining.
The sun was hiding behind cloud and a fog bank was chasing us as we passed between the two headlands at the entrance of Brigus. The sky was grey; but the rocks and scented pine were beautiful. We dropped anchor off the little town at about 1800 and enjoyed some drinks and dinner. It feels amazingly good to have Tazzarin out on the sea again! We will see what tomorrow holds…
