Tazzarin North to Nunatsiavut

Trinity and Rocky Shores

2000 Tuesday August 30

I feel tired this evening. David and I sailed 55 miles today. We left Bonanvista at about 0650 and headed out around Cape Bonavista with a gusty following breeze. when we rounded the cape and hardened up for the beat up Trinity Bay, the wind was fresh, blowing 25 and gusting higher. it was a long, but, exhilarating beat. 25 miles on starboard tack and another 20 on port tack. Finally we could slant off to the entrance to Trinity and Tazzarin was charging for the harbor at over 8 knots.

Trinity feels almost like a fairytale town, pretty churches, quaint, historic houses, old fishing stages and sheds along the waterfront, small barns and out buildings nestled in early autumn grass.. It is the perfect respite after a long beat sailing to weather..

I should also mention that the cliffs and scenery at the entrance (see the third photo) make for a dramatic and compelling landfall.

So, three photos and shorter text from the tired Skipper tonight.
