2023-24 Role Advancements and Organizational Changes

Dear faculty and staff members,

 

As we begin the 2023-24 academic year, we would like to share with you an extended announcement about role advancements and organizational changes that are effective September 1, 2023. In addition to the changes detailed below, there are other minor title adjustments and corrections in effect that will be reflected in our HR systems shortly. Please note that we are working closely with the Communications team to ensure that all title changes are reflected on the medical school’s website as quickly as possible. 

Role Advancements (in alphabetical order):

 

The following individuals have taken on new roles and responsibilities, effective September 1.

 

Monica Albanese has been promoted to Student Affairs Coordinator in the Office of Student Affairs.


Lena Bohman has been promoted to Senior Data Services and Research Impact Librarian in the Health Sciences Library.


Dr. Gino Farina has been promoted to Associate Dean for Clinical Preparation for Residency in the Office of the Dean.


Katie Flood has been promoted to Assistant Director of Integrated Learning and will lead the new Integrated Learning team (formerly the First 100 Weeks team in the Office of Curriculum Support).


Vanessa Gonzalez has been promoted to Registrar and Director of Student Records in the Office of Student Records.


Gina Granger has been promoted to Director of Pipeline Programs in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.


Dr. Robert Lucito has been promoted to Assistant Director of the MD/PhD Program, in addition to continuing his role as Co-Course Director of The Biologic Imperative and Fueling the Body in the Department of Science Education.


Cristine Papasodero has been promoted to Educational Data and Analytics Coordinator in the Office of Educational Data and Analytics.


Dr. Melissa Pawelczak has been promoted to Associate Dean for the Advanced Clinical Experience in the Office of the Dean.


Krista Paxton has been promoted to Medical Education Program Manager in the Office of the Dean.


Carol Peng has been promoted to Student Milestone Events Manager in the Office of Student Affairs.


Dr. Marie Petrizzo has been promoted to Associate Dean for Medical Education in the Office of the Dean.


Connor Pilkington has been promoted to Assistant Director of Event Services and Scheduling, and the Events team will now be part of the Operations team, reporting to Joseph Nicolini, Assistant Dean for Operations.


Megan Rice has been promoted to Science Education Coordinator in the Department of Science Education.


Lauren Roseman has been promoted to Assistant Director of Clinical Experiences and will lead the new Clinical Experiences team (formerly the Second 100 Weeks team in the Office of Curriculum Support).


Aubree Sullivan has been promoted to Program Manager on the new Integrated Learning Team.


La-Keysia Taylor-Huger has been promoted to Director of Student Affairs in the Office of Student Affairs.



Lori Turczyn has been promoted to SOM Financial Affairs Manager in the Office of Financial Affairs.

Office of Curriculum Support Restructure:

 

Effective September 1, Kathryn Olsen, our former Director of Curriculum Support, is transitioning into a new role as Director of Academic Support, and reporting to Annalise Ellis, Assistant Dean for Academic Support. The former Office of Curriculum Support has restructured into two teams as described below:

 

1.      Integrated Learning Team: The team that focuses on supporting the operations of the First 100 Weeks curriculum is now led by Katie Flood, Assistant Director of Integrated Learning, and reports up through Joseph Nicolini, Assistant Dean for Operations. Other members of the Integrated Learning Team include Danielle Mallon, Aubree Sullivan, Jennifer Vogt, Laura Yanega, and Shannan Pearsall.



2.      Clinical Experiences Team: The team that focuses on supporting the clinical scheduling and support of the Second 100 Weeks curriculum is now led by Lauren Roseman, Assistant Director of Clinical Experiences, and reports up through Kathryn Olsen, Director of Academic Support, and Annalise Ellis, Assistant Dean for Academic Support. Other members of the Clinical Experiences Team include Colin Kuntzler, Roxanne Croll, and Sunhee An. Additionally, Michael Parrish is part of this team as Program Manager, and will continue to report to Kathryn Olsen.

Office of Student Affairs Restructure:

 

Effective September 1, the Office of Student Affairs has reduced the former Coordinator of Student Leadership and Engagement position and is reallocating responsibilities among existing members of the team. Wanda Almonte and Daniel Howlin will now focus on supporting a subset of student organizations in addition to their other responsibilities. Monica Albanese will add the support of finances and major events to her expanded role, Coordinator of Student Affairs. Carol Peng will continue to support large annual student events in her expanded role, Manager of Student Milestone Events. The team is led by La-Keysia Taylor in her expanded role, Director of Student Affairs, and reports up through Sue Caulfield, Assistant Dean for Student Services and Well-Being and Jodi Langsfeld, Associate Dean for Student Affairs.
