The Kick-Off Session
Yesterday, we kicked off the 2023 National Conference with an opening session led by BBBSA President and CEO, Artis Stevens, and Sloane Keane, CEO of BBBS of Orange County & the Inland Empire. The session featured California Little of the Year, Ethan, and BBBS San Diego County Little Asiya.
The Leyenda Dance Company delivered a captivating performance, celebrating the rich cultural diversity of southern California. We were then graced with an amazing acoustic performance by Grammy-award winning and multi-platinum artist Tori Kelly!
The session also featured an inspiring keynote address from Kevin Carroll, Best-Selling Author, Expert on Creativity and Innovation, and Agent for Social Change. Finally, we took a moment to honor our agencies by presenting the Quality, Gold Standard, Pinnacle, and Biggie Awards, recognizing their exceptional contributions.
Movie Night
Last night, we had the opportunity to watch a special pre-release screening of the groundbreaking documentary, "Uncharitable". Adapted from Dan Pallotta's influential book, this compelling documentary challenges traditional beliefs about charity by exploring the impact of restricted funding and society's unrealistic expectations of overhead costs. The film's director, Stephen Gyllenhaal, was also present for an engaging chat following the screening.
